Possible, all mine were purchased relatively nearby, all probably came through Gulf States Toyota. For the record, I've never seen an 83 with chromies that somebody wouldn't admit to having changed along the line. It could happen anywhere. By 83, Fj40's were poor sellers and I'm surprised options were even offered.

Now that you mention it I cant remember when I saw an 83 without Chrome wheels..... I was always under the impression thats just the way it was.

I am pretty sure that I have a 83 brochure that has them shown.....

parts catalogue list's chromie's for the later years .also wheels with clips .

Mark, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but can you blast the chrome off of a 60 wheel and paint it that off white color? It seems easier to find 60 wheels and the extra .5" would be nice. I would go with the original steelies, but hard to find and I am cheap.

Right now I have these after market wheels on the truck, and I do have a set of FJ62 chrome wheel just sitting in my storage shed. The truck is getting a makeover at RTcustoms, then I want the wheels to look more stock and not so bling, so maybe I'll just put the FJ62 wheels on and be done with it. My local part guy quoted me a out the door price for 5 OEM wheels in black and caps for around $550. Thats a lot of :beer:

This is the link from the FAQ so I did some due diligence, but I still have a question. I know (am almost positive) there's a difference in wheels for if you have disc brakes vs. wheels if you have drum brakes.

My '76 has front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, so should the wheel for disc brakes fit the rear wheels with the drum brakes, or is that different part number?
This is the wheel part number for front, but I noticed it's the same for the rear, is that correct?

Disc brake wheels will fit drums too. Early wheels the centers were riveted to the rim and the rivet heads will interfere with the calipers. Later style were welded.
