On another note, I have located, I think, the elusive JIS indented head yellow zinc plated bolts and SEMS. I am not sure I will be able to get every size, but I need to figure out what is the most common sizes and what is actually available. Does anyone know how to paste stuff from a word doc into this space? I can't figure it out, but I have the list in a word doc.

Can you send the sheet to mikesta AT gmail Dot Com?

Thanks!!

I will let you know when I get them back hopefully next week. But I think they do not do small batches bc the guy that is having mine done said they are an industrial plater and they could loose stuff. I did not send anything that was not replaceable. But there is a place in Mayesville, GA. Check with blueticker here on Mud.

Browning Metal Plating 9111 Main St. Maysville, GA 30558 if anyone is interested. I am going to call them and see what they do.

I know you know this, but you should be able to just highlight the text, press Ctrl-C (copy), place the cursor in the place you want it to appear, and press Ctrl-V (paste)?

The spread sheet has totals of each size. The more of that size, the more common it is. 8mm x 1.25 x 20mm and 6mm x 1.0 x 12mm are the two most common bolt sizes on a Cruiser.

I'm ready to order bolts the instant you let me know what this guy can do for us OR you provide us with the company that sells these?

I just got my front end back under the truck yesterday and next up is putting the motor/tranny/t-case back in so I really need to order these!

Need the specs on the built in bolt that holds the transfer case shift lever in place on a 4 speed.

I have it measured at 12mm X 1.25, but when I try a 12mm x 1.25 nut on it, it wont go...:mad:

Help me please!

Can't believe I missed this! Here ya go, measured just now.

FJ40 4 Speed Tranny T-case Shift Lever Stud Nut

1 10 mm x 1.25. 17mm wrench size but 19mm will fit.

Coolerman and all. Here is where we are. All my original pieces and the new JIS stuff should have been back from the platers Thursday or Friday, but I did not get a call so I am hoping for Mon/Tue. As for the JIS bolts with the factory looking depressed bolt head we have ordered samples. Basically, we ordered a 25 qty bag of every bolt they sold. The exciting thing about these is that they will come yellow zinc so we will not have to send the out. One question though, what is the head size of each bolt size? ie. M6=10mm head. There is some confusion bc some of the JIS have head sizes that are listed different from one another. Also, as for copy and pasting, I have a word doc that shows what I can get, but it is a huge file and I can not figure out how to paste the doc file here on mud. mud only accepts jpgs etc. That is what I was referring to. Let me know how to do it and I will post that doc here on mud so everyone can see what I am trying to get. Sorry to be so wordy.

edit: I will try to scan the doc.

Like I said earlier I'm ready to order! Really appreciate the work on this source!

Here are JIS specs for bolt head to stud size:

6mm = 10 mm head
8mm = 12 mm head
10 mm = 14 or 17 mm head depending on application
12mm = 17mm or 19 head depending on application
14mm = 19mm

Don't get too excited yet. So far all I have located is M6 & M8 in the depressed Toyota style head. But I am hoping that once I receive these samples and they are correct that the supplier will also have some in at least M10 or M12. Another but, one of the problems looks like it might be the head size bc for some reason some of the M8's are listed with 12mm heads and some are listed with 13mm heads? WTF? Now, the bolts that do not have the depressed head have the same head sizes you have listed and I have those up to M12 with 17mm head. Again, but, they are silver zinc and require plating, which is what I am waiting to come back. This is amazingly tough for what I would have thought was simple. :bang: But I do not give up easily as you can tell.

Here you go. Sorry this took so long. Check the sizes and let me know.

Bolt Size

Does anyone know what size bolts hold the heater fan on the firewall in the engine compartment? I thought that they were 8M x 1.25, but I may be wrong.

Yep that one has been posted. M8x1.25x25:beer:

JIS bolt update

Ok, finally received my replated original JIS bolts and all the new JIS non-indented head stuff from my first order from my bolt supplier. Also, the new bolts with indented heads that I located came in today, I think, but I was too busy to call and see. I will try to check on Monday and post pics. I should also know about pricing then. Here are a few pics of the stuff I got yesterday, check my build post for many more. I have posted some pics here showing the head difference (indented vs. not). No matter what, I know I have found what we have all been looking for, JIS yellow dichromate:bounce::bounce::bounce:. It will just depend on what your preference is and sizes needed. Can you guys give me an idea what it is you will be wanting so I can start to process what it is I will be trying to put together when I meet with my supplier?

Oh that! One meets JIS specs the other DIN specs. That way the supplier can supply both markets.

Just seems confusing to me. The JIS with the flat heads are all "small wrenching" heads. Then for some reason, the JIS stuff with the indented heads are show with true JIS small head size and the the DIN head size. :bang: Any how, like I said, we can get what we need, just have to dance a little.

Whatever you workup will be fine with me as I'm doing a rebuild, not a restore (so the head type doesn't really matter to me). Thanks for all the time and effort you're putting into this project. It's greatly appreciated!

What I need the most:
6mm x 1.0 x 12mm Need 100
6mm x 1.0 x 16mm Need 50
6mm x 1.0 x 20mm Need 100

8mm x 1.25 x 16mm Need 50
8mm x 1.25 x 20mm Need 100
8mm x 1.25 x 25mm Need 50
8mm x 1.25 x 30mm Need 50

10mm x 1.25 x 30mm Need 25

Indented for the 6mm and 8mm and whatever JIS they can get for the 10mm.

Lets us know!

For those keeping up, I made a couple of very minor additions to the Nut and Bolt spread sheet.

If you want to get the latest version, the fastest way to get the file is to click

HERE

Clicking there will open a window asking if you want to save or open the file. Click save, and it will ask where on YOUR hardrive you want to save it. Choose a location, and bingo! You now have a copy of the .xls spreadsheet for your own use!

Errors or additions

If you see an error or want to add a new fastener to the database, just post it here or email the info to me and I will add it to the spread sheet AND post it here. Please post ALL the information about the fastener.

:cheers:
