Yeah man, I sure thought you'd be done by now. I keep thinking "hell, didn't Lou say he'd need this hoist back in just a week or two?"

Managed to break the wire off of this sensor/switch. Anyone know what this thing is called? I thought it was the reverse light switch, but it's not.

What cover? The cone shaped one?

Was most definitely zinc chromate on mine. I've seen many zinc chromated too. (Shrugs)

I'm thinking that Toyota must have switch from black to zinc in the later models.

Yes it is. :)

Correct me if I am mistaken, but doesn't the back up light switch have 2 leads (yellow wires), and mounts on the side of the upper shift cover?

From SOR:

Maybe there's a reverse sensor and reverse switch also?

There's definitely two pieces of electronics on top on my tranny:

Had a major milestone yesterday. Mated the transmission back onto the bellhousing. Feeling like I'm making some good progress on this thing.

Next up: Lift

You're right, the back up switch is definitely the one on the back of the tranny. No idea what the other one is for. Looks to have been drilled and tapped after it left the factory.

Maybe a transmission temp sensor?

It wouldn't be in the fluid at that location so it would be air temp inside the case, unless it is case temp itself.

Have you removed it to see what it is located over or if there is any kind of extension on it or what the bottom side looks like?

Rim still going with reverse indicator though I don't know why there would be two...
