Okay I got the front axle assembled (mocked up for brake plumbing) and measured it,

the WMS to WMS is 61" exactly!

One point that has been overlooked; I started widenng the front of my 40's because with a stock axle some 35's (swampers, ceawlers) won't clear the leaf springs at full lock . With the 60 housing it does
ok. With 40 plus 2 sleeves or a 60 plus one sleeve 37's clear great

Robj,
Axle Looks good!

Another Idea i had for the Rear Axle, If you want it Centered, make a hybrid

Take a Cruiser rear axle (may need to be a 60 series so you have optimal overlap), use Mini truck Outer axle tubes, and use Tacoma Inner Axles, this will give you around 60" WTW..

thats the plan eventually on my rig! that way i dont have to outboard my springs at all!

Could these extension tubes be made in a different length? If so then you could buy some FJ80 inner axles and some 30 spline mini birfields from Bobby. Use an FJ60 axle housing and widen it around 2.5" on each side and have a sweet 63" ish axle.

I'll search around but does anyone know what the length is of inner FJ80 axles.

the slaave are 2 5/8" already, that's pretty close to 2 1/2. Are you putting this under a 40? I don't know the length of the 80 long side but it appears to be significantly longer than the 60

Or call CV Unlimitted, they used to build them. Idon't know if they still will

Thanks for the comments on the axle, I'll post up some pics of it installed in the truck when I get it done. I'm waiting on the sst for setting up the knuckles, ordered it a couple weeks ago.:wrench::bang:

Dave the kit your making for the rear axle sounds like that would be awesome. Cant wait to see it!!

those 4x4 lab arms.... just out of curiousity... what measurements do they need to make you arms?

Yes 4X4 Labs arms, They just need vehicle type, suspension type, (like SOA) and steering type and the rest they have perfected.

I have another set they made and wouldnt buy anything else!

hey everyone, I called Bobby Long because I'm down to my last lengthened short side. Apparently the minimum order now is 20 units of a particular length. I'm going to order 20 more but was also thinking of ordering 20 extended long sides so the 60 owners can set up a wide set for themselves. What's the opinion on this. Anyone be interested in 5 3/4" over 60 front?

I'd be interested. I was planning on eventually going with a diamond front housing 63.5" WMS to match up to an FJ80 rear axle 63" WMS under my fj62.

So, let me get this right. For 60 owners looking to go 5.75" over, we would need 2 sleeves, and 2 custom length shafts correct?

How about a 5 3/4" spacer and shaft for the pass side of a 60 axle for us 40 owners who would like a 63" wtw? That is if lcwizard is willing to make them? then use lcwizards rear full floater conversion (pending?) on a 60 semi float rear. That would make me smile:D

I dont think it would work very good to extend one side that far, it would move your diff, driveshaft etc. to close to center. Thats why Dave is suggesting one on each side. just my .02

That's correct, each sleeve is 2 5/8" long, a number I used because it represents the differnce between the FJ40 and FJ60 long side axle shaft.
The short side of each is the same
