I agree. I understand wanting to protect your own name and reputation. Trying to show other people what a scammer these guys are. But they are better at scamming people than anyone else is at exposing them. They will never admit it publicly.
So, stop. Move on. If they rip someone else off that person had plenty of notice. Like I said before “I almost don’t feel bad for them (the people getting ripped off) anymore.”
I get dozens of emails from people who are not on iH8mud. Lots of these people when I suggested this forum as a resource for information they say to me, nah I don't do forums or whatever excuse they have.
And how many of you out there have googled a seller before buying something?
I get dozens of emails from scammers when I list something on Craigslist. It is easy to weed them out, you tell them to call. If I am buying, I ask for more pics and specific ones which you can't provide if you don't have the truck. It is pretty simple rules and easy to follow so you don't become a victim. And really, who wires thousands of dollars to some joe blow on the internet anyways? I been buying (and selling) trucks for nearly two decades. I never take or send more than a $500 deposit and it is always a face to face transaction when the purchase/sale takes place even if I am buying something far away from me. I will fly out in that case. Others really should follow the same kind of guidelines and there won't be any scams other than maybe that $500 lost if you encounter an expert scam artist. In all my years buying stuff in the internet, hundreds of thousands of dollars mind you, I only ever once got ripped off and it was for $50 on
eBay 15yrs ago.
I am interested to hear about the VDJ79 at Overland West. Besides that I don't really care about any of this.
And FFS man they do really have the VDJ79. That is soooooo much strange effort and cash wrapped up in a scam just to try and rip people off. Not only do I not get that at all, I would like to see how that plays out. Sure we can say and even agree they are low life's, have mental issues are out to scam people or whatever but they still have the VDJ79. What they spent $80k + all expenses on that venture just to try and rip off a few suckers who want a VDJ79? That makes zero sense to me. I suspect there is a lot more to this than a scam. Maybe some of all this is legit, maybe these guys are Cruiserheads, maybe they are trying to shake off past history with a new venture. It is never to late for somebody to change. Ya I know the past history that can be found by a quick google search. A lot of this is all hearsay though, it is easy to make a new account here and post that these guys ripped you off. Everybody is ready to lynch these guys so it is kind of like the Frankenstein movie where the villagers yell "get him".
I say let it play out. Sit back and watch. Jason seems to be the one who is actually talking to these guys, seeing the truck and so on and so forth. I know he wants a legit double cab 70 so again, let's see what happens.
My 3 cents.
Cheers
