I hope you guys make it happen because there is real money and credible sellers waiting to capitalize.:bounce::bounce:

So what actually was for sale on ebay originally? The original listing has expired so we have no reference here. Was it for a spot in line for the chance to buy one, or was it for the one specifically with the funny wheels? It was so long ago, I've moved, grew some gray hair, put weight on and had a kid during this time. :)

Guy claimed he had 3 new HZJ79's for sale that had been imported and federalized to be legal per EPA and DOT standards. Many people offered to fly up to his "open house" where he claimed he would have a local vendor, display the trucks and provide donuts. Requests for his address were met with insults. Some time later he finally admitted that he had no trucks for sale, after ridiculing everyone and this "dumb" forum, as he called it, for not believing him. Some quick internet sleuthing showed that this guy has been caught in multiple scams for taking deposits on vehicles that never materialized and some kind of real estate scam. Then he said he'd have a legal 70 series at Pike's Peak and we'd all look like idiots. Pike's Peak came and went. A failed gofundme page and angel investor requests later and the company name was changed from L79 America to LC America and the original promoter was replaced by someone who claimed to be his brother. The next claim was that legal trucks would be for sale at SEMA. Then a week before SEMA they admitted they wouldn't be there. But they did post a few pictures of some kids wearing SEMA badges in a hotel lobby. Requests to discuss meeting at SEMA were ignored, I'm pretty sure they weren't actually there. Now they claim to be manufacturing trucks and will have them for sale "soon". I'm leaving out a lot of fun stuff. Despite all this, many of us dream of these trucks and hope their project materializes. However, I'm not aware of anyone holding their breath. If you are looking for 50 pages of fun, there are multiple lies, repeated insults and many unfulfilled claims made by these individual(s). And STILL nothing for sale.

Can I ask honestly -- what is wrong with you?

Lots. It'll just get better from here with this being in chat. Gloves are off around here.

Not that I even give a s*** about this train wreck at this point.... but I'm familiar with all that legislation and you are NOT building a kit car with a CARB certified motor. Even if your "Black Box" worked you are still limited to a certain production number and I seriously doubt your required yearly compliance documentation will fly. A "LC79" is simply not an exempted SPMV as HR2675 was written.

The real fear here is this this whole debacle is drawing attention to 70 series trucks that is not needed. Plenty of folks here are waiting patiently for 15 or 25 year old trucks. Crushed trucks mean our microcosm of Landcruiser is under the microscope. This stunt could have implications far beyond forum bickering.

A conveniently vague interpretation of legislation for monetary gain will always be met with trepidation. That this crowd will always call bull**** is one of the reasons I love being part of IH8MUD.
