Not cooling my seat enough (re: seat cooling) (2 Viewers)

Vent scoops installed. Super easy, seat max up and forward provides ample room. Was night time, and our high-90's weather has disappeared, so no real-world testing done. But my finely calibrated hand and butt meters couldn't detect a meaningful difference in air flow with the scoops installed and the vent setting split between top vents and floor vents on the Climate screen. :(

As I suspected. You'd need max floor setting and max fan to discern any difference. That was what I was thinking. A fan replacement or perhaps a fan and custom 3D printed fan housing is the answer. I'm still looking for how my RAM's is setup and why it's so vastly superior and use that as a baseline data point to begin.

I don't think it affects it that much; they're just not that great to begin with. Mine's about a year old and from day one it was never as good as some of the others I've tried.
Maybe taking the seat cover off and increasing the size of the perforations in the foam could help a little? Just thinking out loud

IIRC... some use Peltier coolers, direct plumbing of AC fans to seats, and I think even some AC setup like the console refrig in the LC and non-US market 460s

I just printed it in draft

I had to resize example here to get this print to fit.

I probably won't know for a couple months if I notice a difference since weather is still cool and rainy here. I've actually not really had any complaints with seats in mine but climate is far milder from heat perspective than many of you.

Awesome! Mine is on the way now. I just had hernia repair surgery, so I’m hoping I’m mobile enough to install it once it arrives.

PS hernia repair surgery sucks!

Shoot... And all this time I thought liposuction sucked!

Following. I need to know what Ford is doing because theirs kicks as by comparison. The S550 Mustang and second gen Expedition had ESPECIALLY good seat coolers.

Thanks! That video shows a large fan in the back of the seat, so it makes sense why the back gets a good bit more air.
The bottom of the seat has a much smaller fan. I'd guess that careful selection of the proper computer fan size and voltage should be a good upgrade just by looking at it.
No visual of the air passages in the bottom though.
I usually feel some air in the center of the seat between the legs that is not being compressed so the idea of foam crushing and degredation makes sense to me.

Maybe someone with a 3d printer can swap the stock fan blade with one of those toroidal fan blades?

I would buy one if someone printed one that works.

Now it all makes sense. Poor design if the air only comes out of that port in the front of the seat bottom.
Yes, slow fan, likely 2 bends in that duct, and nothing to force that air under your a*s, it just comes up between your legs. Unless there some miracle happening in the seat foam...

Air feed on bottom of foam and I assume topside holes in diagram are where the air feeds out.

Did your cooling performance improve after you replaced your seat foam?

So now this kinda makes sense why when I stuck my compressor air nozzle up under the seat I didn't feel anything. wasn't pointing into the channel that distributes to the seat cushion!

Exactly. I wonder if a 3D printed redesign on how air gets piped through the foam is in order. My plan to add more holes to the foam will be pointless. I keep thinking the solution has to be with the fan housing and how the air is distributed through the foam.

The minivan I rented on our last trip had such good coolers it felt like I spilled a drink in my seat.

I received my 3D printed air duct re-router. I will install once I am able. I was flayed open a week ago for hernia repair surgery and I can barely get into the vehicle for now
