Thanks for recognizing that...

That's about what it would cost at the dealer IF it were available, plus a little for shipping... if it doesn't sell here today I'll put it on ebay... I wanted to give mudders a shot at a decent price.

what do you mean if it were available? $67 OEM toyota new at specter. probably about $50 from Cdan.

Well look at that... sorry about this kids... I believed my dealer and didn't think to check SOR... Surprising price at SOR too... they are usually more expensive than my dealer... well I guess they would be once you add in their shipping...

Price changed above...

Thanks for the heads up

I didn't think SOR had them. Couldn't find them on there site. Only door handles. Would be good to know Toyota still had them since they are prone to breaking.

SOR when you look up tailgate. bout a year ago plus my toyota parts guy said there were 5 left in the USA at Toyota.

Don't know how many SOR has but might keep in mind as well the example from my 77 FJ40 floormat as well: Toyota did not have it anymore and SOR said they had 2 but could get more from toyota. I bought 1 from SOR, rechecked my Dealer who still verified none. About a month went by then SOR posted as no longer available.

I had to buy a new one when we restored the '55. They are prone to break and they CANNOT be repaired. When I open the tailgate I lift the handle and then pull on the gate, NOT the handle.

Could you braise it?

Called my dealer. Said he could still get it. Cost was 49.94

I have 2 good ones and one broken one. Was thinking of baising it. But for 50 bucks it worth just going and getting a nice shiney one.

# was 96230-90352

I didn't think they still carried it.

Maybe but it's only cast metal, what I call "pot metal". Heating it for brazing might weaken it even more.

There were 0 left in the US warehouses as of yesterday, but that might not count the gulf states area... Kinda sucks, now one will have to wait to see if there is stock in Japan. If not, good bye. typically once the count shifts to zero in the warehouses, its going to be a F code part, only coming from Japan, out of whatever stock is left.

If you have an early piggy(pre '73), the reverse lights are still available new from Toyota too, only 20.19 each.

FYI the one I was trying to sell here is up to $102.50 (plus shipping) on ebay... go figure.

Ebay doesn't always make sense! It's buyers beware. I've bought and sold stuff and missed out on stuff but as long as the buyer researches the prices before bidding it's all good. If not, you can get hosed good.

Yeah I saw that. That's what gave me the idea to call my parts guy.

I knew someone would buy it for that.

Heck I myself have bought parts through e-bay or another mud member before without checking Toyota only to find out they still had it new in a box for less money.

Having the EPC has saved me a lot of money.

A lot of Toyota dealers don't know what to look for when you call them. But if you have a part # it's not that hard.

Like the stuff Rusty Wallace Toyota is selling on ebay at WAY over Toy parts department list...

Hey, if there are folks out there stupid enough to buy at inflated prices then why not??

X2...wish I had that EPC. It really helps if you have an excellent parts guy (like I used to have :crybaby:) If you have a # and a good parts guy you can find it if it is there...some stuff does not show up on their current updated software, but with a parts number they can roundabout find it as my old guy did. Conversely, a novice parts person (or one not up to it) will often look at the software and say they can get it when actually it is not available. Damn, Damn, Damn I miss old Frank.

Tried to sell one of my NOS's last year on ebay and couldn't get $50.00. Well that's Ebay.

marshall, whats your EPC say for a part number on the tailgate handle pad?
