Yes it will.. Our tent can sleep 10. It is like 20x13 so we are going to have a lot of space to warm up. If you all want to stay in our tent, it has walls to divide it into three rooms.

I'm still planning to be there.
Until tonight since I had seen no sign of anyone camping (and it's gonna be blue cold) I'd planned to overnight in C'lotte and come on over Sat morning. But if anyone else is going Fri night I'll go there and set up then, prolly get there about nine or ten.
The UNF website says Arrowhead campground has 50 sites, 33 with power.
I'm looking forward to starting to get to know some of you folks and let you show me how to play w/my new Toy. Add some Uwharrie dirt to the Blue Ridge and Tellico layers already on the chassis.
T'hole (or anyone else in the G'vile SC area) you're welcome to ride along if you won't be embarrassed to be seen in an FJ that has things like power windows and killer stereo. Oh yeah and primo heat and a 110V inverter heh heh.
I have camping gear including several size tents and some small elec htrs.
So see you guys Sat AM or sooner. Let me know if I need to bring anything other than will for thrill and an infant 'wheeler with good bloodlines.

glad to hear your still coming up Bill. We'll be down Saturday morning around 10. set up camp and then hit the trails. I think we will try to stay at arrowhead as well. We'll just get our spot when we arrive and try to get something close to Juan. I doubt there will be heavy traffic there since it will be so cold.

I think Eric is going to call the Campground today and see if he can get the site next to you.

well we got our spot at arrowhead reserved today. We'll be right next to Juan at site 40. hopefully we'll see you guys there. I did not see anything else about where everyone was staying but I know they have many spots still avail. so if you need to call them it's 877-444-6777

I've been trying to figure out how to fit one of our dogs in the 40 with all the camping stuff.. LOL If I figure it out, we will have one of ours with us as well.

Bill can you PM me your phone number. I'd like to see if I could get you some stuff to take and hand out at the event. I've got goodie and stickers I need to get to some club members.

Firewood?

What's the fire situation at Uwharrie? We're gonna be needing some fire, cold as it's gonna be, eh? Assuming fires are allowed, fire rings provided; should I bring a chain saw, look for deadfall along the ORV trails? Or maybe somewhere in the area I can pick some up?
I mean normally a little indian fire for late night conversation, early morning coffee is not a problem, but I'm thinking a bonfire might be more in order with temps in the 20's whatch'all think?

Good news is after upper 40's Sat and upper 20's Sat night it's supposed to get up into the low 60's for Sunday. Hope that proves true.

Talked to Mr Trollhole earlier, he's sending some doorprize goodies via yt.

I'm stoked. If I could go now I would. I feel like a kid waiting to unwrap his Christmas presents. Wouldn't be surprised to find my FJC sitting at the gate waiting for the parkie to show up first thing Sat morning.

Well I know that the camp sites that Juan and Us have reserved have a Grill station on them. Not sure if there is a Fire Ring, or if it is allowed in that area of the park. I agree I would love to have a big fire to help warm us up before and afeter sleeping in a tent.

I'm sure you will have a great time. URE has trails for everyone.

Stacy, you and Eric have been nominated to lead-up the UC side of the trip. I'll tell Bill tonight and he will give you all the stuff I'm sending up there. Sounds like you guys have a good handle on things. Call me if you have any questions.

URE directions

For those travelling that have never been, the mapquest directions are pretty simple. Here it the address for the outpost to use as a reference.

Eldorado Outpost
4021 Nc Highway 109 N
Troy, NC 27371

once on 109S it is approx 9 miles from the intersection of 109 and 49 and will be on the left hand side just past the URE stables. If you need any help prior to leaving feel free to PM me and I'll give you my cell.

For those camping. The low tonight will be 17 and 20 tomorrow night. THis is not the kind of weather to take lightly. I really good sleepingbag is needed. And if you have a big tent that will not heat then bring lots of extra blankets. Stay safe everyone.

The campground we are staying at has electrical outlets for HEATERS!!!! And yes, can't have too many layers of clothes or layers of blankets. If worse comes to worse we can all drive the hour back to our house and we can have the night party there and then the next morning drive back down to URE. No need for anyone to get sick. This is supposed to be FUN... :)

Now ask me Mon. if it was fun... LOL I hate the cold.. So my attitude may change a lot by then.. LOL :)

I don't know of anyone "camping" tonight.. If so, I feel for them.

My apologies if I left anyone hanging in the planning department. Without boring you to death, things have been insane here lately. I've slept in my bed once in the last 8 days and most of that travel was last second and unexpected.

Anyway, just getting in and catching up. Hope everyone has a blast and stays warm.

I am going to look back and see when / where everyone is meeting in the am. I may try and do that but any camping seems out for me because I am traveling again all next week.

Cool, after reading the thread, it looks like everyone is set.

The camp ground Juan's wife made reservations at is the one we stayed at last year. It's really great and the facilities are new. Close to the trails too.

Stay warm, I am going to try and head that way in the am.

Andy, i plan on meeting at the outpost by no later than 10:30. Trying to be on trail no later than 11:00.
