Hey guys. I am new here and new to the 4runner scene, not to mention the 4x4 scene. I have found lots of help here and appreciate all of the info you have all put up. I picked up an 89 4runner with the 22re in it a couple weeks ago. The good...it's in pretty good shape, imho, and paid only $300. The bad...Had a blown head gasket and after tear down, found the head was warped. Just got the head back from shop and had a valve job completed also. I have got it mostly back together and hopefully will get it finished tonight. Here are some pics.

nice looking 4runner, it was priced to move!!!!!!!!............a great deal i think.
hope you get her running and on the road.........

klf...you don't like those ugly things? I will be cutting those off. They stick out way to far and are ugly. Yes, i have been working on it in the snow. The PO of our house built the garage to fit a geo metro and nothing else. It now houses my tools and that's about it.

Looks like a promising SR5. Good luck and have fun. More pics are mandatory for newbie introductions. How is the interior?

No no no... leave those rock sliders, they will keep everything away from the rocks! :D Hehehe Yes, more pics!

Is it just me or is the rear of the slider in the picture mounted onto the gas tank skidplate?
If so, I'd definitely lose that thing before taking it across anything serious!

I see it now, the drop plate is camoflaged.

Great truck, overall! More pics, please!

I got it running. I will post more pics soon as I can get them taken. The interior is pretty rough. The PO parked the rig after the blown head gasket and didn't roll up the rear window....Idiot!!! So, Utah Winter and window down combination doesn't make a good environment for the interior.
