Nissens 94184 parallel flow AC condenser

Anyone put this in yet as an upgrade ?

With a recent deer strike taking out my AC drier and opening up my AC system, it’s time to redo it almost entirely and replace the major components with new stuff. Evaporator, compressor, TXV, drier and all. Says this will fit and I just wanted to see if anyone has put one in and what your experience is.
 
Oh ! Also looking to relocate the drier to a safer place while I’m at it. Posted in a thread here recently about a kit for that but haven’t seen a link or anything solid for those parts yet.
 
I’m pretty sure that’s the one I have. I’ll double check the part number. It’s worked well for me. I think I have a post on here somewhere when I installed all new ac components. I’ll see if I can find it.

Sweet. Exactly the feedback I was looking for. Appreciate it. Just bought that evaporator too. Now all I really lack is the AC drier relocation components. Wonder if I could just McMaster Carr some aluminum tubing and bend it myself and reuse some of the compression fittings ?
 
what would be the upgrade? to me it just looks a little shorter then the denso one. i did the drier relocation with stock r12 parts, sleeved the tubes and welded them up.
 
forgive my ignorance, but why is this Nissens unit considered an upgrade from what the 80 comes with, which is a parallel flow condenser?

I may have been wrong to refer to it as an upgrade. I saw it talked about here years ago and noted the part number is all.

all good, thanks for the clarification. I have Nissens radiators in both of my other cars so I think this is a decent, affordable product for the money. There really isn't too many ways to improve on this tech!

You may want to consider adding two 12" pusher fans in front of this condenser during the swap process. This will really amp up your a/c vent temps!

Its really all about the microchannels having more contact area with the refrigerant to transfer more heat out of the refrigerant.

That is what we have in the 80 series already, hence my question of why is this considered an upgrade.

A 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series came with a factory multi-flow / parallel-flow aluminum core A/C condenser designed specifically for R134a refrigerant. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part number for this assembly is typically 88460-60160 (superseding older part 88460-60060), and the standard aftermarket or factory replacement supplier is Denso. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Condenser Facts
    • Core Design: Multi-flow / parallel-flow aluminum
    • Refrigerant Type: R134a (1993–1997 FZJ80 models transitioned away from old R12 systems)
    • OEM Manufacturer: Denso [1, 2, 3, 4]

Get to about page 8 or 9. They talk some about how some of these part numbers are advertised as parallel flow but area actually serpentine flow. I think it might clear up some of your questions.

I have a 1995 and it has R134 and it for sure does not have a parallel flow condenser. I can see the larger tubes on the sides that snake down either side of it.
 
I compared the Nissen unit to the one that came out of mine in this post. As I say in the thread, my rig was reconstructed, and the condenser it came with is most likely not original to my vehicle, but I suspect it was OEM, just possibly from a different year. More questions than answers, but it's probably worth a look to anyone curious.
