UPDATED: NiGhT WhEeLiNg!? Saturday, February 15th

UPDATE: The plan is to meet at the Western gas station at 3:00 on Saturday, February 15th at 3:00pm. We will depart at 3:30pm and head to Rainbow Falls, wheel for a short bit, have a campfire and dinner. Probable trails are 347C, and 351.

The idea of doing some night wheeling was brought up during the 2014 trail run meeting tonight. Ideas include:

*a night trip (in addition to what is on the schedule) some time soon
*an overnight trip
*changing the Missouri/Illinois Gulch trip to a night trip
*night wheeling during a full moon

Full moons that fall on weekends in 2014:

[STRIKE]*Friday 2/14, (maybe not the valentines day your wife had in mind:princess:)
*Sunday, 3/16
*Saturday, 7/12
*Sunday, 8/10
*Saturday, 12/6[/STRIKE]

Post up ideas/dates that are best if you are interested!

I'm in, sounds like fun. I figure we can work out a date, and I'll head out and get a fire going. Maybe we can meet up at 3 or 4, hanging out by a fire while everyone gathers, then put out then fire and go at dark or a little before? I think Missouri gulch would make a great night trip, we'll just have to watch for the icy spots. May end up back tracking if the ice is too bad on the downhills.

I'm up for Missouri / Illinois Gulch on Valentine's weekend (Friday or Saturday works for me), if that works for you guys.

Heck no! :)

I figure a normal trail day runs from about 9 AM to 3 or 4 PM. That's about 6 hours. I think we could easily be out of the woods before 10 PM. That is, if there's any interest.

Talked to my wife about it and she said it sounded like fun for Valentine's Day/night.

valentines.webp

Valentine's Day is Friday the 14th, but I'm sure you knew that. Why then, would you mention the 15?

Hmmmm............... oh... I get it, you're not allowed to go out playing on Valentine's.

I'm good for Friday or Saturday night. :grinpimp:

You kidding me? My wife would love to go wheeling for a valentines date. Problem is, I know some folks don't get off work until 5 or 6. That would be a tough run to make on a Friday night. I live five minutes from the mountains, so it doesn't matter to me your excellency :D

what's the plan?

Good point, originally I liked the idea of a "Midnight" run, but I also really like your idea of the fire and taking off around dusk.

So we're shooting for the 15th?

FWIW, I would prefer the 15th both because of work and because my wife would probably rather do something else for Valentine's day.

15th sounds good to me!

I just don't understand why my wife doesn't embrace the idea of a nighttime run for Valentines.
