I'm ready to :steer::steer::steer: in the cold weather...

Anyone else?

just watch the video in the first link. Pretty cool is you run into a problem like this..

That actually looks like something I'd come up with. There is ALWAYS a way!

IH8MUD on Android

I'll see if I can find the pictures of me pulling my loaded tractor trailer (~50k#) through the wet grass and mud in my back yard. Certainly nowhere near these guys' ingenuity, but along the same lines of "here's what we've got, let's make it work".

I am loaded up...

I still have yet to finish reassembling the PS knuckle. Still waiting on the $1.80 snap-ring to reassemble the birf and shaft before I can put that back in to start the whole process. It's in at the local Toyota dealer, but that's about 45 minutes away - and it pains me to go get it cause the Tacoma is down to about 10mpg now.

I bet your HOA LOVES you!! I know mine does me... Ok, My HOA is useless and I honestly don't care what the neighbors think.

My neighbors are all fine with me when I load up and living in the end of a cove helps out. Besides when I load up, no one knows I have an off-road truck, because of the cruiser stays in its climate controlled storage unit, a.k.a. the garage :)

I'm looking forward to one or both of these occurrences:

Good job on that diff; looks just like mine from Katemcy back in March. Too bad it also looks a little bit like the front diff that I just put back in :frown: Everyone cross your fingers for me that the Gecko holds up for this last ride. The list of things I found that need attention is looooong. I'm just picturing the last day of the trip when I get ready to load it up - it'll look like the Blues Brothers' car at the end of the chase. :skull:

whats the story on your birf? I gave John back his short side spare last week. FYI-- I found a broken diff stud on the bottom last weekend, DID NOT feel like tearing it down and repairing so xing fingers.

I confirmed upon re-installation that what I'm running is in fact a stock shaft and joint. So if you get an opportunity to regain possession of that from John, I'd appreciate it.

The diff stud shouldn't be an issue if it isn't leaking. I've broken a few of the bottom two and have since moved to GR8 cap screws. They're a :censor: to get in and out because the heads still get beat to hell so the Allen socket won't work anymore, but they show no signs of stress like bending or breaking. Been trying to find a way to make a small skid to protect those two, but there's no easy way to design it to still be removable to access the screws/studs. :frown:

I'll see what I can do but I have a busy Monday and Tuesday. I'd hit Nick up but he's in TN right now so that aint gonna happen. I'm sure John will see this sooner or later and should expect a call.

Good to know about the diff bolt, was wondering/hoping it'd hold for one more ride before tearing it down and replacing. It leaks a little but not enough to be an issue.

John already knows. He told me about a week ago that you'd dropped it back off.

Is the diff leaking from the seal or the hole? If it's the hole, see if you can glob some RTV or, maybe better yet, some Water Weld in the void to stop it up temporarily.

Only a couple more days...any new attendees besides me, Ted, Steve +1, and Zach/Lee?

Weather is looking good. :D
