Great story. It really has been fun following along. Best of luck to you. Cant wait for the next update!

Well SPIKE STRIP and I took the long drive out to Ramona to pick it up. The guy who actually owned it is basically D'ANIMAL's twin separated at birth :flipoff2:

To be honest if I got the full story and seen pictures before going out there I would NOT have gotten the motor. Turns out the motor has at least 50k on it. It wasn't rebuilt three years ago, it was over 5 years ago and it was not out of the truck for one year but it was sitting outside under a tarp for TWO YEARS. $100 was knocked off the price and we loaded it up. The engine and its parts are sitting at Mark's Off Road where we are going to get the head off and inspect, change gaskets and start the engine removal from the truck.

It kind of does

No worries. I'm still trucking along and its fine. I have no plans to sell this thing so this is primarily just to document what I have done to date and will post as I have updates.

just an update. Mark and everyone around him had a good laugh at my expense. Turns out there were mice living INSIDE of the block. There was fur and rat s*** everywhere. They had been there for some time. All the gaskets needed to be replaced and the #6 rod journal needs to be smoothed out because it has a bad bearing. This stupid thing is just costing me so much money and so much grief that there are times I wanna call this chuckle head that sold it to me to just come and pick it up.

Because of my work schedule now I can't help with the R&R the way I originally had wanted to. So its going to one of Mark's friends to do that work. The head is going to be rebuilt because it just needs it.

Pissed but I'm so far into it that I might as well see it through. This truck may be up and running within the next two months if everything goes according to plan...which we all know how that goes

Dang man! Hang in there. You're going to have a sweet rig soon! It would double suck to put all the hard work in like you have only to pass it on just before it's 'right'!

Butt

Yeah I'm going to stick to it. I really like the truck especially with the lift and the 35s. It just looks right. My wife really likes the truck too and hates the other 60 I have right now. She wont drive it but she will drive this one once its running again. She loves the height.

This will eventually be my kid's first truck is what I am thinking. he just turned 12 so I have four years to change my mind :P

My hand to YAHWEH ! - I did not laugh!

My jaw may have hung as I mumbled various curses, questioning the lineage of the Gentleman from whom you acquired the engine. And I may have grinned some as I continued, hanging bright ribald ornaments on that low-hanging branch of a family tree...

But I did not laugh!

I think Mark may have tinkled his pants, though...

:bang:

i think we have all had moments when we thought about just saying Fxxx IT and buying a used 80 or 100 series and starting over and getting rid of the old 60 series....as they do try your patience and wallet on occasion. Then you get it fixed and start driving her and you realize why you dont....the comfort of knowing she is unique and tough and resiliant plus working through issues are a source of pride.

I know I have had some rough bumps where I was about ready to say no more...then today after cleaning her up yesterday and doing all the work recently...driving her around in sunshine with all the people staring and giving me thumbs up on her appearance....makes it all worth while. :D :D

Hang Tough!!

Cruiser addiction is a bitch eh !!!!

I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT !!!

Hang in there man..

Not True! I was there and we all felt bad for you. We were morbidly amused watching the multiple rodent suicide crime scene unfold.

No that the entire IE is full of inbreed idiots that are selling junk to support their Meth habit. But you did get the engine in RAMONA!!!!!! I would have bet 2:1 that that recent rebuild story was a load of crap. Plus if the dude looked just like Dan I would of ran not walked! (I actually like Dan) Well at least the engine is in good hands now.

Dynosoar:zilla:

Oh, jeez, Pete - Now you've started it...

Ok so next update. I had Mark send out the head to be rebuilt because, well... it needed it pretty bad. So $500 later. Ugh. The oil pan was also pretty badly warped so Mark hooked me up with another one.
I am thinking I should keep a running tally of the $$ I've got into it. Have a feeling I am going to pass SPIKE STRIP pretty soon :flipoff2:

Oh, man... Well, at least you got the gift that keeps on giving.

Don't worry - no amount of exaggeration will surpass the f*&#ing $$ I've poured into the bucket.
