Ah, the elusive "FUN MODE" knob. For use only when on muddy inclines with an adult beverage. Seriously though....maybe it's for those fog lamps?

The fogs have their own switch which I have tested already... In the meantime, I'll go with "FUN MODE". :)

if the bumper fog lights are not oem, could be for that. the dash fog light switch usually actuates the rear fog lamp.

on my lj, I had no wiring for front fog lights and I just added another switch.

make sure your "fun" switch is not a "wilson" switch. I burned once the 6v superglow glowplugs by keeping the unmarked (unknown at that time to me) wilson switch , otherwise designed to work with 11v glowplugs.

I've wondered about that switch myself, mine was removed before me owning it, but just have a hole with the wiring. Ended up installing a different switch in that location

90947-02492 and 96940-33505 will be stretched pretty well if you intend on any lift. Too close for comfort in my book.

Return those and get 96940-34705 x2 if you want to have some extension available to your frame to axle lines.

Or just take the to short hoses down to your local hose shop and have a couple made exactly the length you need after lift.

Cheers

After a test drive, I pulled back in the garage and am working on a sound system upgrade.

I did investigate the mysterious "FUN MODE" knob. One end was tied into power over at the lighter. The other end just dead-ended under the dash. Cleaned that up and maybe I'll find a future use for it. :)

Well, now since most of the "mechanical" stuff is done, I will spend some time on the inside.

I did take the seat covers off, the seats look great.

I need to find some kind of center console to hold my junk

So, after lots of research here I was planning on installing a new 12 V stereo using the 24-12 converters, relays, etc. Then I ran across a post where a guy installed an "Out of Sight Audio" bluetooth device. So, I upgraded the speakers, installed the Out of Sight device and picked up a 24V compatible USB charger for the cigarette lighter. So, I have the original radio for AM and the OOS unit connects to my iPhone and plays my tunes. Yeah, it is still two cheesy 4" speakers in a metal dash, but hey, it sounds pretty damn decent.

I'd recommend taking a closer look at the bump stops, mine were so corroded, they broke off the first off road trip I did. I just welded in some aftermarket progressive rubber ones. Also if the OME springs you put on gave you lift, should re-consider their position.

I forgot about the 70 series cup holder from bhicks. Mine ended up in a box of parts somewhere because it wouldn't agree with the FJ73 vinyl flooring. :( I guess I should dig it out again for my PZJ70 which has carpet.

As for the "F" knob...seems like the true meaning is "Future Use".

Cruiser is looking great.

Actually, the front right bump stop was missing. Picked one up from eBay and bolted it on. The only "off roading" this will see is probably the gravel road to my house :)

BTW, any progress on your bumper project?

@richj11 Thanks for asking, I have it off for final paint, but got side tracked with fabbing up an ac condenser. I damaged my original one when doing the FT swap, a new replacement one is around $500 plus it is the older tube and fin style meant for R12, I have converted to R134a because the FT came with that style of compressor. A parallel flow condenser is best suited for 134 setup. Anyway I decided to buy a universal parallel flow condenser ($50) in the size i needed, of course the connections are not where I need them, so I've been learning the art of brazing aluminum so I can make the mounting brackets and change the connection locations. Once I get a little further along I was going to make a thread, to share the process with anyone interested.

@FJ73Texas thanks for clearing up the "F" button, makes sense. Also another attribute to toyota's forethought at the time
