I have the same combo….. My 2024 First edition and my 88 FJ62.

Bought this in 2003 for my 3 kids to use while learning to drive. I was the second owner. Needless to say, it survived running into curbs, embankments snow drifts, woods, stuck in the mud and even taking down a highway overhead streetlight. (Was waiting for the 5K replacement from the state but they never caught up to me). And many other issues too numerous to get into. Bottom line I achieved my objective. They lived through their "growing up" years!! Finally, after it sat around and became a bit of a rust bucket and I was still too attached to it, I decided to get it street worthy again. That then escalated into more of a show vehicle. Ugh! Used a restoration crew with high credentials for most of the redo. I have to give a lot of credit to a buddy of mind of 35 years as a professional auto mechanic of 40 years for some fine tuning especially with the GM conversions. I personally handled sourcing most OEM and GM parts to get the restoration and system right. I found the correct components from Australia, Japan, and the USA. Parts in the US were scarce as Toyota did not keep a sufficient supply of replacement components for the 3 years the FJ62 was produced. Yes, some of the FJ60 parts work but I wanted to stay with as much vintage as possible. To give you an idea, the chassis itself was stripped down to bare metal, prepped and triple powder coated. Much of the hardware was updated eliminating all rusted components. Brand-new stainless-steel gas and brake lines reproduced by Classic tubing in New York using the old lines. I had the original decal strip reproduced by a friend working as a graphics artist. Now it goes to local muscle car shows gathering a lot of "googles and oogles". Wasn't my initial objective but here I am. Project started in 2015-2012. Still play with bits and pieces. It never ends!!!
