Sorry, I'm too lazy to search - is it coated in bedliner on the exterior? This is such a cool 40!

Yup. Epoxy primered then coated in tintable bed liner in Capri blue. I thinned the liner out as much as I could to get a smoothish finish but its still the orange peel King.

It looks great. Durable. Lots of them are done to look tacky and cheap. This one looks terrific!

Phenomenal work!!! How do you get the spare tire up on the rack? Ha.
Knees locked, pivoting at the waist in a jerking/twisting motion usually does it.

Lol

Nah, I'm still able bodied enough to heft the 37 up there by myself. If someone's around I'm not above asking for help though.

Worked on weight redistribution and rattle reduction last week.

She leams to the drivers side pretty good so I rearranged the tools in my storage box after lining it in some 1" foam (that came with the box as padding coincidentally). I then modified a set of hilift jack mounts and bolted them to the rear inner fenders behind the seats to get the jack down low and central. It used to be mounted a lot higher to the roll cage behind the drivers seat so that should help with... something. Also kicked the larger bottles of fluids out of the box and incorporated a foam kneeling pad and a bungee to hold them on the passenger rear well.

Its less rattly now but obviously still leans so next I'm thinking of swapping leaf packs side to side and maybe even removing a leaf from the ps pack (ome fj60 "stock height" leaf springs).

Imo don't swap leaf packs side to side. If it's been that way for a while, just add a leaf to the low side, or a spacer under the leaf pack.

Chasing perfect level with leafs only leads to frustration imo. Just live with it, lol

Also, love your trucks. Keep it up dude. The 60 you used to have still looks good in ig with whoever owns it now.

It was raining the other day so I finally started fixing my original bezel.

First time out after the v8/trans swap was at a local rock crawl/wheeling event my buddy used to put on. I was asked to be one of the recovery guys at the actual race and after trying to pull a high centered rig and digging down with only my back tires I figured out I couldn't get it into 4wd. I had turned the original tcase shifter into a convoluted pretzel type shape trying to get it to shift and while it worked in the garage it refused to out in the real world. So to speed things up I got a tug from a rock bouncer type thing with a short tree saver because it was all we had near us at the time. Yup, I bumped the back of buddy's (pointy assed) rig pretty good after he pulled me/us out and dented the s*** out of my bezel and apron.

As an aside, I got the 4wd working later that day at the trail ride from under the truck. Ordered a twin stick kit from AA when I got home.

I was able to pull and massage the dent in the apron but the bezel was too mangled for my weak metal working abilities so it got mounted to the garage and the patina'd bezel it's been sporting got bolted on.

A facebook friend sent me a grille that was decently straight but had some extra holes and a few rips in the steel around the bolt holes. I got most of it welded up and half ass decent then got carried away on the ds upper. After blowing hole after hole in the thin steel it ended up warping and looking like s***.

Thankfully the old bezel was mangled on the same side so I cut them up and made one good one and one kinda cool lookin wall hanger. Got as far as finishing the welding/grinding and sanding on the "good" one before realizing my bondo was no more good lol. It was too late to get more so I mixed up a small batch of the old crap and crossed my fingers. We'll see what it looks like when I head out to the garage today...

The plan is to paint it the metallic orange like the stripes and lettering on the tailgate... just to see what it looks like on the van.

Holy s*** that was a lot of words.. sorry.

So if you stand 20 feet away and squint it turned out okay. Gonna thrown it on the van and see how bad it looks.

Did the door panels while I was at it.

Yeah...

The AVR hatch strut kit I ordered came in so I threw that on today. Very nice kit and super simple to put on. These struts open the hatch a bit higher than the air strut impregnated stockers I was running so it's gonna be nice not to nail my head on the inside hatch handle.

Changing the color of the bezel is hard to nail, and I like it. What is the extra space that you added outside of the left headlight for? Do you have an oil cooler or something positioned there the under the hood? It looks well done, too, like it came that way.

If you mean the thing in the apron... That's part of a 77 honds 550 super sport rear tail light/license plate mount. I used the light as third brake light on the roll cage and made a scoop for the air intake with the mount.

If you mean the cutout under the headlight that's for the fj60 steering box. I pushed the front axle forward 5" so things didn't fit well.
