I've been meaning to redo some of the wiring on the 40 for a while now to tidy it up and get rid of a few questionable things. On top of the tidying up I wanted to incorporate a master switch in the cab that was easily accessible and a bus bar for everything that needed power under the hood.

Now you have to remember that I'm no wiring guru here so...

There's also a 150 amp fuse that's not in the Pic but this is what I had to work with. Had enough wire to make new alternator, starter and ground cables

The switch is gonna live in the glove box so I poked a couple holes in the firewall for the bulkhead connectors and to mount a 150A fuse. Before I could do this I had to take out the s***ty motorcycle stereo I had mounted in there that never worked right which turned into a bit of a fight with the last mounting bolt. Finding a spot for the bus bar was a pita but I finally settled on standing it up beside the battery, made a bracket and bent it so it was tilty too.

So the battery is mounted to the frame on stilts, and the bus bar bracket is bolted to the inner fender. Grounds are hooked straight to the battery as well as the alternator. Power to the bus bar goes from the battery through the fuse to the switch, then back out to the bar. Everything that needs power is bolted to the bus bar and can now be turned off with the switch. All the cables got sheathing in the rubby areas, and all that's left to do is a little more zip tying. I have to make some caps to cover the exposed bulkhead dealies in the glove box, too, but I have an idea how to do that.

Few more pics.

Have to give an honorable mention to the new Led strip light I got from a buddy. I had a dark spot in the middle of the garage that made it hard to see into the engine bay, this deal did the trick. It's super low profile to boot.

Just been driving it... No wheeling yet this summer.

Also, it's so nice not to have to pop the hood to disconnect the battery anymore!

Since stripes are the hot topic today.... Here's the roof jobbie I did on the new c10 this weekend. Metal flake gold with pearl/metallic orange stripes.

I'm on page 26 of this thread and I know how it turns out, but it's like reading a murder mystery. I know the F engine is going to be killed off, but the how or why is a question hanging over the story line....... I could skip ahead but then I'd miss all the well-crafted details in-between.
Inside I'm screaming "C-10 you're next, RUN!"

Great thread and great writing. The ability to put thought to paper is becoming a lost art; you do it well darwink.

This thread makes me want to go off the deep end, buy a bender and build a wild 40.
I’m currently debating on doing that very purchase, but I fear I already fell off the ledge…

The 40 is doing a mighty fine impression of an extension cord rack I must say..
