My thinking is that the customers that want heavy offroad type modifications won't need as much convincing evidence of your work. Its the more moderate customer that will appreciate a solid resto-mod. And if you plan to daily drive it and use it for parts pickup, a lower stance will be easier on the knees and back.

If you want cheap, reliable, and efficient I'd say go Isuzu 4BD1T and H55, quite a few guys have already gone that route here on the board. More power than a 2F, 25mpg, and quite/smooth compared to the domestic diesels. But honestly if the 2F runs good leave it alone and rock out with a nice stock reliable 60 :beer:
 
A well-done, low SOA is tough to beat...and, if painting black (sounds good to me) the purest argument goes out the window anyway. Of course, folks always want what they don't (can't) have, and my 40 has always been SUA.
