I've really liked the Nokians on my LC for sure and have had no issues with the P rated size/weight after a year. But, I'm on road and gravel mostly, no heavy rocky trails. They did do great in the snow we had last year, almost toooo good, ha.

I put some Outpost NAT's on my LC250 last week in the stock size, 265/70/18, P-rated (116s). They look far more aggressive than they do in photos, really like the look of them. Ride is excellent and a noticeable improvement over the Cooper Road+Trail in the same size.

I am however surprised how noisy they are. They are audible at all speeds, a low growl at lower speeds and noticeable tread noise on the freeway with increasing noise at higher speeds. I can actually feel the tread through the steering wheel slightly.

After seeing so many of you note how quiet they are and compared favorably to the Michelin Defender I'm wondering if this is due to a slightly larger size (larger tread gap?). Perhaps there is a difference in manufacturing in them recently? They look great but I may not keep them through the 30 day guarantee as I"m not sure I can get used to the noise in a vehicle that is otherwise very nice to drive.

Did any of you have noise at first that went away?

Mine, after a year and about 20k miles have a slight hum but really not that noticeable. I have the same size you're running as well – I imagine it's due to the vehicles insulation and sound deadening?

Interesting feedback, it's possible that the LC250 has less insulation than the GX460. It was dead quiet even with the rack on the freeway and the Cooper Road + Trail, but maybe these are just that much louder. You can hear the tread noise pretty well with the windows down especially going below underpasses.
I do really like the way they drive and soak up the chop on the road.

I also just put these on my LC250 1958 and was surprised how loud these were. Sounded and felt like a MT tire and don’t think I can live with this long enough to even see how they are in snow. I am swapping them out for Toyos AT3 which I have on my 200 series.

It's surprising to me how much the experiences differ. I can actually feel the tread in the steering wheel, and the growl from the tires is very audible with the windows down even at 25mph, but by 70-80mph its just too much and really getting on my nerves. The Cooper Discoverer R&T were nearly silent on the LC prior to these.

I will say they have been excellent in the snow and slush.

I'm pulling them off next week in favor of the new Bridgestone Dueler Ascent A/T's which have had great feedback so far.

That's interesting to hear. My son just put a set of 275/70R18 KO3s on his 2004 LC and they are even quieter and more comfortable on road than my Nokians, for now at least.

If you're going for a quieter, mild AT tire, don't rule out the Continental Terrain Contact AT. I had a set on my LC for several years before going to a larger tire and they were whisper quiet and good in most conditions. I did a long term review of them here on mud.

I couldn't wait for the nATs and went with the Ascents.

Although we haven't had much inclement weather around here, I am anxious to see how they do.

I am running these Continentals - agree they are a great option for quiet and capable. I don’t go anywhere that would need more tire, and if I did i would likely buy a second set of wheels just for that occasion.

Just ran across this thread while researching the Nokians. I've run the previous version Rotiiva about 80k, fantastic on the highway in slush, snow, ice. But the truck has an unsettling yaw when going over bumps. I've gotten used to it, just countersteer a bit, but my wife can't stand riding in my LC with these tires. I've tried different tire pressures, lower is better, but wife wants me to get tires that don't jump around. My Nokians are tall/skinny LT tires, weigh about 54-lb compared to the 40-lb Dunlops that came on it. That is a lot of rotating and unsprung weight, along with stiffness, compared to the Dunlops.

I see the Outpost come in P or LT, the P are 10-lb lighter and I assume softer, hopefully that will be a better ride. Biggest P size is 275/65R18, not quite as big as I'm running, but should fit well.

I recently bought a 100 in Austin, TX and had the Nokian Outpost nAT tires added prior to driving back to Michigan. So far I'm very impressed with the handling on pavement and how quiet the tires are. Since being back home I've driven in some deep snow and traction is very good, ice traction is not as good as Hakapilita or Biizak tires but it's adequate.

Great thread. I have a new to me 2020 LX that needs tires and looking g at the P version for ride quality. I don’t tow anything more than a motorcycle trailer and go off road (moderate) now and then. Wondering if anyone has a facelift LX like me and what size works without rubbing or mods?

I’m about to pull the trigger on a set of 275/70r18 for my LC-250. Surprised to see the negative comments from other 250 owners as the tire seems to have an overwhelming positive review by the 100 guys as well as over the Internet as a whole.

Anyone with anything to add as time has passed since your last post?

Nokians are a solid brand and will perform well....they are priced good as well....keep in mind tires and suspension are the most subjective things to review and everyone will experience differently

Ive got ko2s on my highlander and cruiser. I hate the way they ride on the highlander but rides good on cruiser, very subjective to the vehicle and driver experience

Ive got nokian highway tires on my gx470 and I can climb up steep rocky trails with ease..I had the outpost previously and they were just fine

Remember everything is a trade off..
Go off roading often? Need good puncture resistance, then go for outpost or any off road tire

Want a smoother ride on highway and longer lasting? Go for any brand name highway tire

Maybe I should have been a little more specific in my question.

Has anyone experienced weird wear characteristics they can’t contribute to a poorly maintained truck? Have they got noisy as they get older? Anyone have any punctures? Would you definitely buy them again or MEH I liked them but it’s like most AT’s and I’ll try a new flavor next time.

This is not my first tire rodeo, I’m just more in tune with big M/T’s for my 80. Just looking for feedback on this particular tire. I’m familiar with Nokian. I’ve had plenty on the wife’s Subarus over the years.

This truck is towing a trailer to Alaska and back this summer. A durable E-rated slightly HWY bias AT is my preference.

If you are just sticking to highways on your trip to Alasks, then pretty much any highway tire will do. Michelin Defenders will outlast and out perform any other on-raod tire. If you will be going to more challenging routes, like Dalton Highway, I would go with E Rated KO3. When touring remote areas with limited to no roadside assistance go with tried and true.

That's the point I was trying to make. All name brand tires are good. Most tires have tredwear, temperature, and traction ratings to help you compare. If someone had a bad experience with a particular tire its usually very subjective to the person / vehicle

The Outpost would be a solid choice for your driving style....I ran them for a year before deciding I can easily get away with their HT One tires ....That would be the trade off. If you want a little more off road capability / driving down muddy roads go outpost. Otherwise go for their HT ones. Just my opinion after running a few different Nokians

We are running the Dalton and plenty of other off pavement routes. An AT is the right tire for my overall usage. I just want to lean to the HWY side of AT verse the more aggressive side of AT. I'm not in this thread for recommendations of other tires just data on this particular tire. I've got others I'm considering, but at this point I'm more looking for a reason not to get the Nokian than a reason to get it. Meaning it’s at the top of my current list. It's time to get these snow tires off for the season.
