I don't have latch part number cause they are in the back of the truck- at the dealer- getting ac fixed... But they are the 7500 lb ones de-sta-co makes with catch it is almost 90 bucks. Maybe more. Same size as the 4000lb one with the red handle one - I ordered it from the directly

thought it will be something like 385-R .. and over kill 7K pounds capacity ..

That what I think as well-it probably is over kill, but every one else uses 4k and has one for each arm. I think 4k would be fine but for a couple of extra bucks not to have the red handle and shiny steel I figured I would give it a try- less noticeable for the kids to mess with. Plus it is new design that I have not seen used before - I don't have pics yet but the latch will be set on 1/4 plates that have a little .5 butt on them- should be rattle free and totally stationary.

Cant do shocks (I think the swing arm is too close- .5 inch) but I am going to check it out cause they are sweet.

Maybe look at mounting them to the top of the swing and top of the bumper? From the pictures they look to be in the same plane. Good luck, looks great:clap:

by mounting the latch on top of the swing arms you would not be able to use the tail gate when the tire carrier and ladder are in the garage. The tail gate would hit the latch when opened and the main point of this design was not to half to go through multiple steps like undoing latch, locking the swing arm open just to use the rear doors/ hatch of the truck at walmart when I dont have all that stuff on it- and to provide some impact protection for the latch from either backing into something or being hit in the rear.--

edit - Rusty-I thought you were talking about the latch- yes the it is flush on top and I will check that out for the struts- I would like to put some 5 bar tread plate on top-like the ARB side steps or Kaymar but I cant find any to save my life

sweeet. lookin fwd to more pics!!

Subscribed, looks good

Got back from vacation and was able to make some progress today-

Spindles welded in and swing arms cut from 2x3 tubing. Made the latch mounting plates and the d ring mounts welded through the bumper to frame mounts.

Will have more welding and tire mount and arm clamps finished soon

More I think about this the more I think the kit will be really easy to sent up and have minimal welding.

Phone pics- sorry-

one is side view showing tail gate down over the bumper

one showing the latch and swing arms

another showing latch detail

That latch is freakin sweet.

Cut the top of the wings and the bumper down to follow the body lines better and I am going to trim an inch all the way around the bottom to give some lift to the rear end- right now it is sitting at 23- I want to get it up to 24 off the back- at the same time I want a little lip for the bumper to slide off of anything so I will leave an inch under the bottom. The black tape is where I am planning on cutting

Swing outs and latch is finished- The ends of the swing out have been capped and welded. Latch works great with the little lip and the plates that it is bolted on- 7500 lb latch is over kill. There is so little movement between the arms and the bumper- rather there is zero movement, that I would guess that a 2000 latch would work fine. But, I like mine- It is really thin and it is hard to notice it back there
.
I will get some black bolts later.

Tire swing out is finished- looks like it is not straight- cause we did not have bushings in arms when we threw it on for a pic- The tire can go on either side and is bolted through the bumper with 3 - 3 inch bolts grade 8 bolts. Common bolt pattern on each arm so you can set it up how you want it for each trip

Ladder coming up next with 2 gas can carrier.

Tomorrow hopefully I can get all the finish welding done and start prepping for paint! Getting tired of taking it on and off-:o

I would guess it weighs 80-100 lbs without the spare on it.

I really want to have this wraped up this week- At least the bumper and the first of the attachments. The 2 inch hitch looks like it will work with no cutting of any crossmembers. Just have it bolt up like any other aftermaket type.

Using the ladder as a base I want to make a 2 gas can rack, a cooler basket, bike rack, snowboard rack- how ever you want to set it up. Between the arms once I get the lock outs done a hammock type chair and a table that clamps on to the arm for car camping. Some LED lighting.

Man, lots to do!

Lookin good bro! i like that you raised up the rear end a bit.

you going to powder coat it all when you are done?
