Last ones for real

These two have the metal diamond plating on the sides and rear quarter panels. The black truck would have crome and the blue one has black plating. I think the blue and black one would look goog because eventually I want to install both a tire carrier and roof rack and they generaly come in black.

I really like the idea of the Black and deep red one. It just looks good to me. Not stock but 2 tone. Me likie.
The Black with Red reminds me of my old 1956 23 Window Deluxe with original paint. I sold it a long time ago... the one in the photo isnt mine... but shows the paint scheme. The black is actually a walnut brown.

I'm leaning towards the blue with black plating. But I think the red/black combo looks good too. If I go with either, what color should I go with on the inside?

Black/Red - Black interior?
Blue - Blue interior?

or something completly different?

Is this the pig that was on Powers down by the nursery?

What kind of condition is it in? I wanted to stop and look a couple times. I was always on my way to the airport. How much work and PO corrections dowes it need? Mine is a 78 that had sat for a couple years during PO and one year by me while I was out of the country. Do you have many ideas for it yet?

current condition:
PO says the engine was swapped about 4 yrs ago with a 2F and 4 speed tranny. After that I imagine it sat for a while. He said his neighboor had it sitting in his yard and then bought it from him. The the PO got injured while in Iraq also his new born was having problems so he let it sit also.

So far it runs great, but there are parts everywhere. Some of the things that are wrong that are immediate issues for me are:
- e brake detatched
- mirrors detatched
- front side lights detatched
- horns detatched
- huge hole in front seat
- sticking gas pedal

all i've done so far is buy some generic seat cushion foam and new seat cover from Wal-Mart. Priority is the e-brake though. My brother-in-law works at a garage door place and will get some wire from there since it seems to match stock wires pretty good.

I think you need to stay with the classic color and white. Two colors looks weird to me and the only straight color I have ever seen look good was solid black. As for the current color the sun glare makes it hard to tell but I'm guessing its just faded red. Mine was badly faded and it looked like more of a pink then red.

Sounds like a few detail to fix. For seats, your best bet in the area is the goodguys car show in early Sept. The have a auto swap meet. I picked up to New seats for 150 each. They look alot like recaro or sports car seat. I had to buy a bracket for to mount them. Pretty straight forward. Let me know if you need any help on any of it. I'm just up the road.

Yeah, that sounds good. I may be go visit a junk yard and pull some seats. I haven't made up my mind yet.

I'm tossing around the idea or making it more of a DD since the wifey wants me to lose my other car. If that's the case, i really want to redo the interior to the point that it's semi-custom (such as scrap the stock dash and build my own). Install lots of amenities, power locks/windows, stereo system, etc.

If the dash board is crapped out... try a dash cap. New dashes run about $300 and up. If you cap it, it looks new with a lot less time money and trouble. I have redone most of the interior of mine. I have a new header on order, then mine will be back on the road. Becareful which Landcruiser aftermarket stores you goto. Some are into the overpricing.

Ummm...SirHamblett, little secret; we usually don't admit to even thinking of putting diamond plate on a 'Cruiser, much less on a Pig.
But I think the all black Pig looks the best...
And what is with the non-USA rear view mirrors? Makes for a completely different look!

IIRC, ain't no color code nowhere on a '72 Pig, not even on the VIN tag...

What I mean is "Where on your '72 Pig do you find a color code?"

OOH! ummm, maybe on the VIN plate on the side of the drivers door jam? To be honest my signature may explain.

Oh, this picture of a completely differnent truck. I was just farting around at work and didn't have a picture of mine at hand.

If ...if that is the original paint on it and just badly faded....the first thing I'd do is get the buffer and compound out and see if it can come back. If it's too thin and you burn through and a re-spray is a must...I'd still give a lot of consideration to bringing it back to original color scheme. Just my .02.
