The first thread I check out here on the forum and there's two people from the springs. I'm looking to buy one here in the springs in the next couple days.

Welcome! Good luck in your search. What are you looking at?

I can't post the link, so go to the Colorado Springs craigslist and search Landcruiser. It's the 1984 FJ60 with a six inch lift and chevy conversion.

Going to go take a look at this beast here in a few. I looked at one yesterday that I found on autotrader, but it was a total piece of junk. Any advice for me when I go to look?

Hmm... Make sure the frame isn't rusting out completely underneath! It' looks pretty good, I saw the normal trouble spots on the doors and quarters. It's been up for awhile, bet you can get them to come down on the price.

I got mine for free down in south Colorado haha there's a bunch for sale around here

Got some stuff tacked on. This springs are back to sagged at this point, but I pointed the diff and tacked the perches under the vehicle's weight. This was just before I pulled the axle back up to get the perches welded.

Picked up a tank of Argon/CO2 and some MIG wire... What a difference!

Still need to cut off the old brackets... and paint.

Starting to gather a few too many of these! The girl is tired of tripping over them when she comes in through the garage.

Got a little painting in.

Rusto - enamel bushed on the axles - We'll see how it holds up.

Went with the Rusto Hammered on the knuckles. The under region of this thing should look pretty nice.

Still need to cut and turn, but I just felt like painting today. Kinda relaxing.

These knuckles were beyond filthy, 25 years of grease and gunk. My wire brush is impregnated with the stuff!

I forgot to tell you, I have the "accessory" spindles ready as well. Gas can swing outs, misc..

Here it is next to the standard bumper spindle.

Cheers,

I had to look at your thread to get an idea of what your thoughts were on the accessory spindles. Is it meant to be built into the the ladder, kinda? That's a cool idea and I may have to double back and pick one or 2 up as I get into this bumper fab.

Where did/do you source these red handle latches from? They're pretty trick.

(Slowly plagiarizing your work)

Wuuuuut?

I'd just like to add that the mail lady absolutely F-ing hates me. It took about 2 Ruff Stuff shipments, for her to change her whole attitude about me.

Feeling kinda bad as things have slowed down a bit. See, I'm kinda waiting on this plasma cutter to arrive and it gives me an excuse to take it easy for a few days. I did play around with Sketchup and with a little "borrowing" and tweaking of other peoples work, managed to mock up a much cooler version of the 60 than the one that sits in our garage.

Obviously I forgot to add the existing rusty spots. ;)

Glad they arrived and your happy with them. Let me know if you have any questions.

Our mail lady loves us... She is always excited to see what I'm doing with the cruisers! My FedEx guy is a WEENIE..... Then there is our 100# UPS girl....... Strong as H--L.. Wow! she is impressive and never complains... Just says "Probably see ya tomorrow!" and laughs.

Been awhile since I updated-

I had mounted the front springs (rear springs moved up front) but after a few weeks with full weight on the vehicle the springs were beyond flat and into inverted territory. Started the process of tearing apart the old front springs and cutting them down to add to the new front packs.

Still need to grab a longer pin to hold the new pack together. Hopefully this doesn't invert on me.

Do you have the plastic sliders in between the leafs on the new packs? They have those in there to prevent spring failure from the ends cutting into the leafs above it. You can plasma cut a hole to hold the plastic piece. Just a thought, if you are building a custom pack. Those sliders are in both the OEM springs and the old man emu springs I have.

Use UHMW or Delrin (Acetyl). If you ask nice I would even send you some pieces of .250 black Delrin.

I think I saw thingy in the FSM. Now I know what it's referring to! I had to build some of those thingys for one of my spring sets - kinda sucks.
