UPDATE:

The mfr. has been VERY responsive on the issue at hand, and my contact fast-tracked through the system a "corrected" version of the brown carpet. He sent me a photo this morning (below), and it shows both what the sewing division used on the incorrect ones they sent out over the last two weeks vs. what they will be sending out going forward. The surging is now the right color, and even though I realize I compared the interior to a photo on my phone, the heel/toe pads look to be the exact color of the dash / door vinyl in my '85 60.

Anyway, I wanted to offer this information for three reasons: (a) a (BIG) mistake was made, but we've gotten it corrected in 3 days following notification, (b) we'll be working immediately with those of you to get your "incorrect" carpet corrected, and (c) the photo below will allow you to see the final product so you can decide if it meets your expectations or not (the grey carpet can also be seen in post #138 above).

Thanks for everyone's patience and a special thanks to @Cruising Canuck for his kind retraction and follow-up PM. I've never done a project like this before, so I'm not sure I was prepared for some of the problems that can arise. However, this is a reputable automotive carpet mfr., and once this issue is resolved and things are back on the right track, I really believe you're going to be impressed with the final product!

David

Hi David,

So do you have an update as to how the mfr is going to handle this for those of us with the goofed up brown carpet sets? Are they just making new sets and sending them out? Or do we have to ship our old sets back and they'll redo them?

Best
Mikey

Mikey,

That's what I'm trying to ascertain now. I'm thinking they're going to issue call-tags for the carpet to be shipped back, but I've not got conclusive word on that. I hope to have an answer by the end of the day.

As soon as I know something, I'll let you know. Sorry for the delay.

David

I will say that having a Mud Member work with a US based auto carpet manufacture is awesome.
Further more having the carpet made for our years (as the floor changed) is even better.

Looks like this is being custom made by ACC based open the box.
I have bought carpet for a few vehicles I have done in the past. I did 3 cars using this manufacture. A 1986 Bronco, a 1970 Chevelle (it was a full restoration) and a 1995 F150.

I only had problems with the F150 carpet (the color was off based on the color chart) and I sent it back to them with a cut piece of my carpet, then fixed it and sent me my new one.

The biggest 2 were the Bronco (1 piece, it was huge) and Chevelle. Both turned out perfect. The Chevelle looked amazing and was a perfect match to the OEM carpet. The Bronco I picked one of their more luxurious options.

The are a great company and happy that they are being used.
Thanks David for doing this for us and I look forward to the later 60 carpets.

i would be down for a brown set for a 1982 60, is there possibly door card carpet chunks available? i was a little confused
Yessir. They offer bulk carpet in the same color/style as these new sets that you can use to replace the carpet at the bottom of the door panels and rear side panels. I wish I could offer some instruction on how that can be done, but I've not attempted it (yet). I also don't know exactly how much carpet it takes to do all of those panels, but bulk carpet is about $50/yd. shipped.

Hi, Alterations fixed and ready to ship for new customer? Thanks, Mike
If I understood your question correctly (and after looking at your sig line), we don't have carpet available for your 62s - but it shouldn't be long at all......MAYBE as soon as this week! They've got the measurements now, and they're working on a mold. As for your 80, I am about to start offering carpet for that in about a week. I'm pretty satisfied with the brown color, but I'm waiting to test the grey. Just PM me if you want to get on the waiting list for either of these.

Thanks,
David

@NLXTACY Pay someone! LOL!!!

I got three estimates all quoted at 3 hours ($300). I went back and forth on DIY or no. Decided that I have NEVER done interior work, and didn't want to learn on this carpet and this 60. Wanted it to look perfect and am very satisfied. New molded carpet to my door and installed for $750 was within spec for me. If estimates came back $450+, I would still be learning everything there is to learn about carpeting a 60.

If anyone needs a decent takeout carpet set (would clean up nicely), PM me!

WOWOWOWOW! That's the first set I've seen installed.....B E A U T I F U L! So, who did you have perform the install? (EDIT: I keep going back to look at the photos, and it's conspicuous how much this carpet adds to the "new" look of the interior!)

Any pointers?
It's really not difficult to install, just time-consuming. Once you get all of the carpet positioned (not difficult), you have to find all of the holes to mount stuff, like seats, consoles, etc. I usually take a small section of a coathanger, bend it into an "L" shape with a long side/short side, grind the end of the long side into a sharp point, and use that as a probe to find the mounting holes. Then, I take the point of a carpet knife to cut an "X" in the hole (really hard to mess that up, because the tip of the knife is "retained" from going too far by the hole itself). As for the big holes (transmission shifter / t-case shifter), once you establish where their holes are to be, you've got a lot of latitude to cut, because the hole needed for each shifter is small, and yet the boot is much larger. Really, on a 6x, the most challenging part would probably be the removal / re-installation of the old rear heater.

For most of you who are adept at wrenching on your old vehicles, this won't be a big challenge......the front two sections just won't be a fast process.

for the later 60 set, will the section of carpet where the rear heater is need to be cut out?, i'm hoping so because my rear heater is removed.
Yes, you are correct. The only pre-cut hole is for the emergency brake handle. The best representation is in FARMAN33's post #118 on page 6 of this thread.

Thanks,

@erse Seat back is part of the cargo carpet and is a continuous piece that folds with the seat. Look at yours if you have it still. It is held on by the metal trim border at the seat back and at the rear by the chrome edge plate.

Also included was the tailgate piece and carpeted fender wells! Very complete kit!

@Rustinator I would like to find a mat that won't "de-loop" my nice new carpet. Had mats in it before but the spikes to keep it from moving were rather aggressive and my carpet underneath them looked very "hairy" I am on the hunt though and will let you know what I find.

If no one buys my take out set, I may make some from the front and mid section.

@FARMAN33 Did you have anything done to the carpet on the door/trim panels? From the pics, it looks like the carpet on the rear trim panels is loop pile. The carpet on my factory panels is cut pile.
