Nice work and welcome to the vendor club!

The 60 gray is lighter than the 62 gray. Which gray are you selling/patterning off of? Or do you have both?

Okay a twist, now that you have the moulds can the flooring be made in all vinyl? Some Land cruiser came with that, and I believe it was also brown. But I'd take black vinyl if can be made to the moulds with the backing or not on it.
Oddly so many of us want to get rid the carpet. And since some of these came configured in vinyl floors or rubber type floors it would be nice to be able to buy a good set.

I'm interested - 88 FJ62 in (dark) Gray. Would it be possible to get the set WITHOUT the cargo area/lift gate?

You should talk to the guy @Rusto who posted earlier in the thread looking just for those sections. Maybe you can work out a deal to split the order and expense?

I'd be up for splitting an order, but if the 60 and 62 greys are different, splitting the order with a 62er wouldn't work.

Nice attempt at the match-making though, erse.

Wow! Interested in Grey for '89 62. Can you confirm the shade is correct for that year/model?

I would be interested in splitting a Brown Set. I really just need the cargo and tailgate.

Sorry for the delay folks. We've been working on tweaking the design for the later models a bit. More on that in just a minute. First:

Well, I'm checking to see if anyone can confirm that the greys are different. It would be hard to imagine the 60 grey being lighter, as it's a VERY dark grey (they all faded out lighter VERY quickly), and I'm confident I got the correct shade, as this was a sample (lower color) I cut from under a console that had never been removed. It was very clean, and much more supple than the other carpets I found. Whether it's dead on or not, I can't imagine being able to come up with a more "correct" sample than this. If the 62 is darker, it's an extremely dark grey. Bottom line: as I mentioned in my first post, only OEM is going to be dead-on. I believe it'll be close enough for a 60 or 62 that you won't be disappointed (Caveat: this is all contingent upon the dye house replicating it like they said they could. The first grey carpets aren't in yet, so I'll have to report once they're in.) For comparison, here's the photo of the two samples again:

I'll take a set in BROWN for my 85'

Mike
Mike, there was a floor shape change sometime between '85 and '86. Please see below

Unfortunately, I'm thinking I remember the mfr. telling me early on that vinyl floors wouldn't be an option. I may have dreamed that, so I'll check in with them again tomorrow

I'm still thinking there was only one grey color. If anyone has information that says otherwise, please let me know......

OK, now for a little update on the floor change I mentioned before: @cruiser enthuiser notified me that there was a floor change in the models after 1985, and we have been studying the change. I want to make sure it wasn't implemented during model year 1985, because there were some major changes that took place in I think 5/85. In any event, my two 4/85 60s have one type of floor, and my '86 60 and my '88 62 have another. I'm posting photos below so you can determine which floor you have. We're working to get all of that straightened out. Please stay tuned (we worked and worked to try to cover all the bases before we even mentioned the carpet being available, and now this! :bang: Hopefully, we'll get it straightened out before the grey carpet material gets here..........)

At least thru April 1985 floor ("Early Floor")

Funny you mention about the front seats, I was going to ask you about that as well but I see it's already been asked.

There are definitely two shades of gray. Even the doorhandles are lighter on the earlier 60s compared to the 62's. Sure some fading has come into play over the years but they're definitely different colors. Will it matter? Probably not, but I think going with the darker over the lighter is definitely the better choice.

Keep up the good work.

I cannot say I have seen both shades of grey/blue but I would agree if there can be only one go with the darker shade

I have 2 sets of the "gray" door handles. Definitely 2 distinct colors...as far as door handles go..

OK, some additional data for you. My truck VIN plate shows a Sept 1985 build, fairly late for the model year, yet it clearly has the "early" style floor. Would seem to indicate that it was a change for the 86' model year.

Best
Mikey

The floor change(correct me if I'm wrong) based on the two images above show

1. Fj60 floor as it has provisions for tool kit under driver seat and floor heater under passenger seat.

2. Is definitely fj62 which would be 87 or so due to center heater, lack of tool kit and removed front seat bracing, and the obvious automatic.

None of '2' should exist prior to 87. My 10/85 is same as '1'.

You're correct on some of these. From what I've been able to ascertain, the changed occurred VERY late in the '85 model or with the '86 model change.

MOST FJ60s had the tools under the driver's seat, but not all (My 2 '85s were under the seat, but my '86 has them in the rear panel). Best I can tell, all heaters were under the passenger seat until the 62, when it moved under the console (the only photo I had of the later floor was from a 62). Again, the later fllor appears to have arrived in '86.

Working with the carpet mfr. now to get this issue resolved. Thanks for everyone's patience!

Couple more - Oct 1985 with the tools under driver's seat (early floor), Mar 1986 tools in rear panel (late floor).
