Quick note: The mfr. has notified me that prices will increase as of January 1. It's not going to be huge (like 5% or so), but any increase is an increase. If you need carpet for your 60, let me know, as it's cheaper for the next couple of weeks than it will be starting next year.........AND, as an added incentive, I'm taking another $10 off for carpet sold before Christmas (so, $360/set + shipping)

Hey, $10 is $10..........:hillbilly:

Finally got the carpet installed in my 62. I'm extremely pleased. Thanks, David!

Wow! What a transformation. That carpet looks great.

Wish I had a 60/62 to buy a set for.

@dnp , any chance you can get them to start doing a carpet dash cover as well? I'll be buying a set in the near future and a matching carpet dash cover would be SWEET!
Hmmmmm. Never thought about that. I'll ask and see if they have an appetite.

@dnp David, I want to purchase grey carpet for an ‘88 62. Tell me how you want the money sent and timeline to receive carpet. I am at 73012.

Thanks
Thanks for the note. Please PM me your full shipping address so I can get you a total (shipped) price.

Thanks again,
David

Order placed! David was super responsive to all my questions over the past couple of months. Will be getting it to go with with my newly upholstered seats and door cards. Baby is going to look brand new! (at least from where i'll be sitting).

Now... if I could just track down that gas smell :)

I'll post again with how quick the carpet arrived and some before and after pics too.

So I have a question. I have not installed mine yet, but the question resides around the 4x4 shifter. I have seen people put the carpet under the ring that bolts to the floor and people put the carpet like above, which I believe is under the shifter boot but above the ring.
So which is the OEM way?

I don't believe my carpet or shifter have ever been messed with and mine has the ring below the carpet

Perfect! Thank you this is how I will install mine.
Just saw the last two posts, and you are correct on this. Per OEM, the metal ring is below the carpet, with the hole in the carpet being slightly smaller than the metal ring. That allows the carpet to both hide the metal ring/bolts and allow the upper rubber boot to hide the hole in the carpet.

Why I keep forgetting to take photos / do a write-up for installing, I don't know! I keep catching myself about half-way through, and thinking, "Now why the heck didn't I take photos, etc. to be able to post?" Anyway, the best way I've found to do this particular step is to:
  • Prep: remove both shifters
  • Prep: put the carpet in place (up the firewall, along the sides, etc.)
  • Prep: anchor the carpet, as best you can, in the location of where it will be permanently situated. Do this by locating the front seat mounting holes, and go ahead and install those bolts / tighten them. (It's best to locate the bolt holes using a sharp pick. Then, many people use a soldering iron to open up the holes for the bolts to go through - this procedure also helps to "cauterize" the nylon threads around the edge of the holes to help prevent runs in the carpet.) If you want to make an even firmer "hold" on the front carpet section, you can go ahead and trim the door openings to the proper width and install the scuff plates. The objective in this step is to make sure the carpet doesn't move as you're cutting the shifter holes. After all, once it's cut.....it's cut!
  • Cutting/Installing: Pick a shifter, then cut a hole in the carpet the same size as the hole in the metal transmission hump. This hole will be smaller in size than the bolt pattern of the mounting holes for the boot. Sometimes, this first hole will be large enough to allow the metal shifter boot plate to go through this hole, but more often than not, you're going to have to trim just a little more. This gives you the advantage of being able to see the mounting holes. The objective is to try to keep the hole in the carpet small enough to where it still covers all 4 mounting bolts. Then, when it's bolted down, the carpet is over the bolts, and the first "bellow" of the upper rubber boot covers the carpet.
Hope this brief explanation is of some benefit you y'all.

Ordered my carpet on April 5th. It arrived on the 11th. Pretty darn quick turn around.
Carpet looks to be of very nice quality. I'll be pulling the seats for upholstery on the 22nd (10 days!) and then I'll swap out the carpet.

David has been a pleasure to work with. I have some rubber mats for front, rear and cargo areas, but the carpeted mats look so nice, I may be ordering some of those for the front and rear foot wells, too.

Can't wait to get the new carpet laid down.

@dnp First off I think this is an awesome contribution to the 60's community. One quick question. Are these sets also being offered for sale on Ebay? Curious to know if this is you or the manufacturer, but also I saw that they/you are offering more color options? I'm planning out a new custom interior to go in my project this summer and was considering black but wanted to make sure this is the same set.

Thanks for the props. It’s been challenging, but fun. That being said, yes, I do have a presence on eBay, but I much prefer to sell on ‘MUD - and can do so cheaper than on eBay. If you saw an offering of more than grey and brown, it was someone other than me. However, If you’re wanting black, I can easily provide that too (in either loop pile like OEM or cut pile like later model trucks.) Just PM me, and I’ll get you fixed up.

Thanks,
David
