Luke responded to me on the 20th. He said there was some delay with the powder coater and they are busy working on 40 bumpers at various stages of completion.

thanks

Wait, you heard from him on the 20th and didn't write an update here for 8 days!? "It only takes 10 min... Blah blah" how do you sleep at night after neglecting the group like that!? :flipoff2:

Assuming this one is closed/done...I'm willing to start another group buy - who else is down?!?
I've seen two 4x4 Labs group buys since I joined the board a year ago. So far I'm not yet ready to jump in. Eventually I'm likely to end up with a Labs rear, and perhaps a Labs front bumper.

If your actually wanting to do a group buy (I don't know how you would start one) but post up in the 60 series section as well. Luke just came out with a redesigned/updated 60 series rear and front I believe. My brother got the rear kit and it looks really good.

Here, Here.....

I'd be interested to know what the benefit to doing the group buy is. Discount? Free shipping (I wish)? whatever. I would also post a new thread to see who might be interested.

Discount and you could possibly save on shipping if others close by are in on the group buy. I've just been waiting for someone to start a new one. I think it's bound to happen. If not I'll get one solo.

I have been in contact with Luke for the last few weeks and am ready to purchase the front and rear DIY bumpers and would love to save a little bit of money to make up for the shipping. Anyone in Florida interested in splitting shipping let me know I was quoted $200. How do we get this to happen.

If I was to wild guess how to start a group buy, I think it would start with contacting the vendor to see if he was game. Get an idea of what discount he would offer at what volume of buyers. (See the early posts of this thread for ideas of possible discounts.) If Luke is game, post in the Group Buy forum. There actually are 4x4 Labs products for vehicles other than the 80. Then you might want to post a link in this thread, to the new group buy thread that you start; since the 80 Series forum clearly DOES get a LOT of traffic.

...or you might post a link to your group buy in one of the other 4x4 labs related threads, since this group buy thread was closed once (...or if I was willing to re-read 17 pages of thread, I may find it was restarted, and closed a second time.) If you need to get more action on your group buy, you might even contact the moderators of this forum to see if you can link to the group buy in the "Tech" forum.

I will be buying a DIY rear 80 series bumper shipped to New England in the near future. Looks like that makes 7 in the 80s forum so far this fall.

Sorry for the critique but I just can't accept the fact that the front turn signals are covered and front fender is not fully or adequately protected, with a bit more engineering this could of bean a nice and functional bumper and now it looks like it was removed out of Suzuki Samurai and slapped on fat 80.

Not for you.

Not intended for you.

Buy and ARB and be happy.

Agreed, but I still think that the bumper doesn't provide the protection and functionality that it could with a little tweaking that's all.
