Ok, got the carb installed--I can idle with no choke now! That's a first! Still got something wrong though, I have to have the distributer advanced as far as it will go to run ok. It'll drive, but not great even though it'll idle pretty dang good at around 600-700rpms. If I back off the timing it doesn't want to idle and runs like crap. Any suggestions? This is my first carbed vehicle so I've got lots to learn!
Engine is stock other than being desmogged.

Might want to adjust your idle up a little. It should run around 650 rpms at 7 dtdt. Do you know which one is the idle speed screw?

PM me your address.

Is there a gasket at the base of the carb that needs to be used? Did you use your old one or did you get a new one. I went to the dealership today to inquire and what they called insulation on their diagram was like a $100 bucks. Any input on the install that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. I received my carb from trollhole yesterday and it sure is purty.

Just wanted to say, got my carb. on. Everything went good, took me about 3 hrs to get all the smog equipment off, and get the new carb. on. Very easy to do. I'll post up some pics later when I get a chance. I'll have to say this is the best bang for your buck on a new carb., especially if you are doing a desmog to your rig.
Great product for a reasonable price. Thanks Marshall

Mike

When I took the existing carb off, the gasket was in good shape, so I just reused mine. I had a roll of gasket material at the ready should I have needed it. The entire roll was $4.59, and it was good for intakes. The carb gasket is SUPER SIMPLE, so you could probably trace it and cut it and be fine.

Good Luck!

That was what I wanted to hear. The folks at the dealership I went to were pretty clueless. Thanks for the reply.

Marshall,

Any word on the cable adapter for early throttle cable type vehicles?

Will these be extra cost?

I was thinking I would order the carb now, and then order the adapter, or should I hold off and wait until the adapter is ready?

Thanks - Bruce

I think I can figure something out

I've got a lot of spare parts and an active imagination. I think the accel linkage can be figured out, and I can figure out an air cleaner solution. I,m sending a PM. Thanks, Dave.

Yes did you see my post above stating a solution. But you will need the old mount your old carb has and modify it very slightly.

Marshall,

I don't have my original carb anymore. Can you sell me the cable bracket I need? Or better yet, sell me the carb in the picture that shows that cable bracket! Also, I posted the need for a three speed shifter lever in your used parts thread. If you can provide me with a total for all, I'm PayPal ASAP for all (carb, dizzy, shifter, cable bracket).

Thanks - Bruce

Troll,

If I buy your carb/dizzy setup, what do I do with the emissions control box on the driver's fender. It's got 4 lines coming from it: to Carb, to Manifold, to Diaphram, to Distributor. Also it has a line going to the charcoal canister setup. I've got a cable throtle and it's hooked to an old Rochester carb. Just not really sure what I need to pug and play. Can you walk me through it when you've got a minute? I can post pics if that helps.

Stu

Marshall, I never recieved the second dizzy we talked about. Do you want me to post the results from testing the first one?

PM sent.

I looked at a few retail sites and it seems that the same dizzy was used from 1958-1987 (with a clamp changed in the middle I think)
Is it safe to assume that your dizzy is compatible with my '67 Fj40 with the original F engine, vac advance carb?

Cheers,
Brog
