I recently picked up a brand new OEM short block from a Mud member here that I'm putting in my 97 80. I had been procrastinating on putting in another engine I have when this came available so I took the plunge. Now on to my issue. I got the new short block on the stand. In comparing it to my other engine I noticed that it didn't have and dowels or pins. I just got an order of small parts from Beno and my FSM does no show anywhere where any of these parts go with the exception of the orifice. Of course the two pins on the rear where it mates to the tranny are obvious. I need guidance (maybe a good parts diagram) that shows what goes where.
Here is what I have:

11448-66010
90253-13002 x2
90253--11021 x2
90253-15007 x2
90250-08054 x2
90250-06068

Any help would be appreciated.

Is Power Steering Pump Gear on Other Side?

The power steering pump goes on the driver's side of the block, bolts to the circular bracket that you can protruding in the second picture above.

Out of curiosity are you going to pull the bearings out and lube them or just start it up as is ? I wonder how long these blocks have sat after manufacturing ?

Could just leave out the spark plugs and cancel the fuel pump so you can let the starter spin the engine for a while to lube and loosen it.

Ok got all the pins and dowels located and installed. Also painted the valve cover. I did run into a situation I would like some input on. As far as the coolant drain plug, I attempted to install it but noticed it getting tight right off the bat with a long way to go. I didn't try to crank on it and backed it out. I've read about another here that had to tap the short block. My threads look good, it's just tight. Any input would be appreciated.

Onur ,
When you have time could you show where the front studs are placed on the block? There is some discrepancy between my old block and the ones you sent me. (Short ones).
I'm nearing the point where I need all of the studs, dowels, & pins. I think I found all of the locations that they are needed. Here's what I am ordering:

2 11434H = 90253-11021 Front near timing cover
2 11434X= 90253-13002 bottom right
1 11415A= 96431-23814 DS Middle block
2 11434C= 90253-15007 Rear top
1 11434D=90250-06068 Rear by trans
2 11434B= 90250-08054 Rear by trans
1 11448-66010

I don't think I need 2 of each, but having 2 and losing 1 is better than having 1 and ... They're cheap. Thanks for the post @mtrdud

Just curious, what did you do with the coolant drain plug? I have the same issue. New plug, and it gets tight about 1 thread in.

As you can see, about 1 thread in. What to do?

You need the updated drain plug for the new short block. Don’t waste your time taping, just buy the right $10 part.

Cheers
