need some help around clemson

anyone who knows anything about the 3fe around clemson willing to help me with my 1991 fj80 i just bought. i have a rough idle and a slight ticking noise. Just need someone who knows what they are doing to take a look or listen to it. :beer:
 
well......... I know the 3FE pretty well; but I am out of town until the Thrusday before the Tellico trip........... so I am guessing that won't do you much good.

Your rough idle is most likely due to a vaccum leak of some kind; the intake hose tends to crack on these things and can cause rough idle..... have you checked that? Also did you get the hole in you EGR fixed? however that shouldn't affect your idle though.....
 
well i contacted a forum member about a egr and i am going to get it for $50. the egr on it is disconnected and the vaccum lines to it are plugged. I think it is vaccum related. i pulled a couple random vaccum hoses to see if it started running worse and it didn't. so i think there is a leak somewhere.
 
yep sounds like a vaccume for sure....... now all you have to do is find it :grinpimp:

I desmogged mine as well ..... doesn't really cost much and opens up a lot of room under the hood. But it will cause your engine to idle higher for a while until the ECU works it self out. Don't expect to gain alot in the way of power or anthing thing like that though..........

I bought a roll of vacuum hose from Toyota and just cut off what I needed to replace almost all of the hoses in my old 3FE
