I'd buy old American. Weaver, Walker, etc. and rebuild it. Last as long as you want.

+100!

Where do you get seals/parts ?

I had a 1980 snapon 6 ton I bought of craigs list for $75 with a bad seal. Broke it down and sent the jack to guy who rebuilt it for another $75, he does them all, hein, walker, lincoln, SO and the likes. I can dig up the info if you want. He also sells rebuild kits for them for under $20 shipped IIRC

I'd love to buy an American unit but finding them used has been a challenge. I do scour CL for an used unit every day.

Here are some other areas to search since there are close military installations close to you
govliquidation.com
gsaauctions.gov
govdeals.com
publicsurplus.com

I've found some really good deals on interesting stuff, latest was a nozzle position indicator test kit for a T-38 Talon from Nasa Langley Research Center, it came in a lot of some color printers I wanted, there was also a pressure test kit for some aircraft I sold I ebay that paid for the entire lot of stuff I bought.

I've seen several 10T Walker jacks on Govliquidation but they're always too far for me to drive, if you're near the Hill AFB in Utah you can score some unreal deals on Kennedy cabinets and flip them for big cash.

I've got an OTC 2 speed floor jack and really don't like it. The handle is constantly dropping to the floor creating a trip hazard and today with last night being 21* it didn't work. The piston would not return after the first pump.

And it pee'd on the floor a little.

2 years old.

A good jack will last longer than several vehicles/people - my vote is easily Hein-Werner , worked with several over the years in shops and they just don't fail . Pay for it once , or pay for one the hard way with several junk ones and hope you and your vehicle survive when they fail .
Sarge

Sarge ... where do we find these??

Do you have a preferred source?

So I was cleaning up around my grandparents farm and came upon this rusty treasure. Any idea on a brand? The only # I can find on it is 1157 and that is on the handle at the top. Would it be worth it to clean it up and and try to get it working or find something else?

Heck ya it would be worth it! Looks like a walker 10 ton

Hein-Werner is nice, I have the 6-Ton jack stands. When I needed a floor jack again, I tried the harbor frieght and it was CRAP!

Went ti Napa and bought their 3 1/2 Ton floor jack. It has worked great! Just like the higher end ones I used busting tires back in the days.....

The plate is missing from the top of jack. It would have the Ident. tag on it. Check out the website for weavers. Looks like my 2 ton. You can still get a seal kit for it.

After getting it home and cleaned I coated it with some PB blaster and did a little more research. It is a weaver WA-73B, the best I can tell. I talked to my grandpa about it a little and he said it came out of a Cadillac dealership.

That is a sweet jack! Hope you're going to bring it back to life, I certainly would.
