I just bought a '97 Collector's Edition Land Cruiser. It is in decent shape, but I want to clean it up a bit. The center caps on the wheels are completely warn and the wood dash has several faded spots. Any advice on how/where to buy new caps and dash pieces. I may also need to replace the piece that says "Toyota Land Cruiser" on the rear hatch. This piece is faded.

Thanks for any input.

bhfrank,
Faded/delaminated wood is a common issue. I just chisle off a piece every month or two. There are easier ways to remove it; primarily using heat and gentle pressure with soft tipped tools. Underneath you will find the stock black plastic which you might prefer.

The center caps can be bought new from C-Dan or refurbished with paint. There are a couple of threads describing how to "do it right" on the hub cap refinish.

you might find that those caps are on the expensive side...even from CDan.
find the threads discussing repainting as Beowulf suggested and go that route.

You mind find also that the Toyota Land Cruiser emblem on the lift gate is a bit pricier than you might expect, about $98.00 list. Dan will do much better on the price, but it's still gonna be pricey. Mine had some scratches from the PO that I decided to live with.

I don't know if factory wood is still available. A few guys have some good luck with aftermarket kits. If you do a search, you will find the threads.

Yes CDan is the parts manager, his screen name here is CDAN.

My rear door Land Cruiser emblem is cracked in the middle, Dan's price is a good percentage below 98.00 yet I decided to live with it also. I almost got one from a totaled rig here for 40.00 but the whole door was sold. :( someday I'll replace it.

Not quite, at least for searching purposes.........:)

New caps list for $58.70 each and a mudder gets them for about 44 bucks each.

Some of the OE wood pieces are still available but they are very spendy.

I have a question on the emblems side. I HATE my "T" Toyota emblem is that just glued on or is there holes in the sheet metal? If it is just glued wich it think it is I will just use a hair dryer on it on a hot day and peel it right off.

You've lured us in by tugging at our heartstrings and appealing to our love of dogs. Now the truth comes out.... you old sot.

to give you something to compare against...my local Toyota dealership marks up the center caps to $75.

I'm assuming that cruiserdan=cdan and therefore you are the man. I would like to buy 4 center caps. I'm also interested in a price on the "Toyota Land Cruiser" thing on my rear hatch. Hopefully this is something an idiot like myself can replace. As far as the wood goes, I'm currently peeling it all off and shopping around. I was thinking of wooddashexperts.com unless you recommend otherwise. Is there a way to take off only the blistered pieces and replace them without buying a whole kit?

Thanks,
Brendan Frank
