......It of course doesn’t fold back up as easily, safely or quickly as the axis lock......
Yeah, it's definitely nice not having to put a thumb in the way of the blade when closing an AXIS knife. Just hold back the AXIS button, face your hand upwards and twitch towards yourself. Simple and safe.

EDIT: Wow. That reads really badly but I can't think how better to describe it.

Lots of good suggestions here. The BM Grips are great as are Spydercos. Couple of options not mentioned yet are the Spyderco PM2 and Endura. Both are great.

Some of my favorites lately are the Cold Steel Triad Locks. The American Lawman is a great EDC and their new Prolite "value" line knives are great too:

These are reasonably priced and have a very secure lock.

You can have a look at Benchmade Osborne, as it’s around the price you are looking for and it is a good one, if you are having issues looking for it I know a place where you can get it for $105.
Still rocking the Ontario Rat 1 D2. It has held up wonderfully after over a year (wow it realy has been that long!). Great ergonomics, I don't have to clean ut regularly to keep the lock working, and edge retention and toughness are top notch. Quite honestly I have found it to be superior to the Benchmade in every aspect, despite costing less than haf. I highly recommend it. Two of my coworkers have gotten them after using mine.
