Since the green one is now gone. It's time to start on the second half of the Tucson 40s. It's a 1968 factory soft top 40. Moved it into the garage tonight. Now it's time to get to work. :grinpimp:

So are you doing an engine rebuild or head overall, or…?

Hopefully just some head work and a reseal.
I am thinking it's gonna be a preservation mechanical rebuild for this 40.

How will you verify the cylinder rings are still skookum before putting the head on and running compression/leak down tests?

It's a gamble I am willing to take. Seems that when it was taken apart they took care to coat the cylinders with anti size and probably trans fluid to preserve it. The motor was also set at TDC.
If it does not work, I have a couple other motors to choose from.....lol.

Got another engine stand to get everything mobile. After much prep, the windshield frame finally come off. Still have a few stubborn bolts, but it's off the tub.
Ordered another round of parts. Most of the first round has shown up. Can't wait to start the rebuild and be done with scrapping off 50 year old crud.

Since I am trying to save the original paint....I need to figure out what Toyota color it is??? Looking at this chart, there's 2 possibilities.

Spent the day moving motors around and trying to figure out a plan. Stocked up on supplies for the paint job rehab that's happening tomorrow. Sand off the rest of the black/gray primer and give it a CLR scrub down.

Going off that color chart, I would say this 40 is Lily White. Today will determine how well the paint will come back to life. Got alot of scrubbing and sanding to do first though.
