I know my choice of vehicle wasnt the best for the intended use.Yes ,but they are really for extra load carrying duties when your existing springs are good. There are also air bag shocks you can inflate to raise the vehicle. But I would just replace the springs with some OME or Dobinsons.
I would keep the rpms below 2700 if you want the engine to last. At 400000klms it is getting on.
WHat do you think of rancho XL adjustable shocks allround.?
Ive sourced some OME springs in finland for the fronts , will revise the back another time.Shocks wont do anything for tired springs. Maybe you could add an extra leaf or 2 or get them reset. Its not a permanent fix but done properly you might get a year or 2 out of them
I used a broken knife to tighten the ball stud seat. i got close to a quarter turn on it but i can go tighter.Whats the recomended feel on this.Theres new grease in the nipple. These are adjustable, remove the pin and tighten with a large flat screwdriwer. Might be stuck.
im using the hand throttle all the time when starting, its pretty smoothed idle when cold. That "choke" knob is not technically a choke- it's just a hand throttle control to raise the idle.
The truck should cold start fine without using it, but it is nice for warming the truck up faster when idling.
It's also an awesome dirtbag cruise control. But that's a controversial topic.
As for engine dryness - I don't like the rust and aluminum salting that happens on a dry engine, so I keep mine a bit damp with oily sprays.
I try not to put to much on though, cause it can be hard to tell if something important is leaking...
How do you like the 2H H55 combo in your rig?I've heard that installing coilover shocks might cause issues with some other components and you might have to cut and move things. Just as well to install new leaves from Old Man Emu (OME). Use heavy springs on the front to account for the extra weight of the diesel motor, then mediums or heavies in the back, depending on what you're carrying. Replace the shackles, shocks, and bushings, too. You can order an OME steering damper, too.
You should also consider taking it to an alignment shop. When I picked mine up, it was scary on the highway. It turns out that my caster angle was negative. They reset to a positive angle and it's much better. Toe-in and camber are easier for a home mechanic, but caster is harder. I had the shop do all of it at once.
I have a 2H in a 60 body. I review the diesel section and the 60 section. My diesel has a 12v system, though. So I have to piece all my information together.
Best,
Ara
