Any New Pictures....

I have a few of the donor piggy and the floorboard and other stuff I scavenged. I'll have them up when I get home from work tonight! I will also be finishing taking all the stuff off the truck for cleaning and painting, so I hope to have some pics of that too!

Here are the pics of the donor pig and the giant hole we cut in it. Also pics of the parts I picked up this weekend.

So now I have a question. I took apart the hubs I have and the pawl (I think that's the right name) has twisted tabs on it. It's the metal ring that has tabs and that the springs tuck into. How do I find a replacement part? Here's the pic. Oh, and the whole ring doesn't fit flat onto the gear either.

Well, thanks for all the help on that last issue. :grinpimp:

Anyway, I did make a decision about the fenders today and Steve (eventhough) helped me to cut out the cancer on the front fenders and we began fabbing up a patch. Slow and steady...Miss piggy will be on the road and better than ever soon!

Heather, I ordered totally normal rear alcans........just got them installed and all the difference in the world for rusty :)...... with 3 inches of lift yours must be awsome!

Lou

Glad to hear it Lou! Money well spent is what I have heard. I'll let you know when I get them and get them on. It will be September sometime before they go on...but it will be worth the wait!

yep, very much money well spent; wish I had enough for the fronts also....oh well the difference is very noticable with only the rears and the original fronts are not bad; did you get fronts also?

Lou

Um, do you all mind sharing your leaf spring hanger measurements... Or did Alcan already know them? Did either of you specify any extra weight or anything? And of course, we need pics of the new lifts ASAP. Thanks. :)

Sure...here is what I told them (and yes, I did get front and rears):

Front has 7 leaves, measured from center of hangers is 42"
Rear has 8 leaves, measured from center of hangers is 46.5"

They didn't have the measurements, but once I said them to him he said they sounded right for the truck.

He recommended that I buy new shackles since Alcans come with urethane bushings and stock had rubber. Now I gotta go find some of those too!

I did not really specify any extra weight, because I don't expect to have any in there except a dog or two!

I won't have the springs for at least a month...and then it will be mid Sept before I get it on the truck, but pics will come!

Hey Heather - I have a better idea for your front fenders. I put a patch on the fenders I got from Marshall and it went much easier the way I did it versus how we were doing it for yours...I'll show you in ATL.

I talked to the fellow that is the technical guru at alcan; told him what I wanted and the reply was "no problem"!, normal height and mild wheeling.......very pleasant to deal with them...........the product is awesome; also installed new greaseable shackles from MAF front and rear :)

Lou

You'll need pins too!! By the time you get the old pins out I doubt they'll be very useful as pins anymore!!

OK, so a zillion dollars later, I have greasable shackles, shackle pins, shocks, shock boots, exended braided break hoses, a steering stabilize, caster shims, bushings and all that good stuff coming soon!

I'll be all ready to get this thing lifted in September when my club had a wrenching day!

got my greasable shackles from MAF......front and rear and the price was amazingly reasonable :)
