Thank you for the thread and pics. Makes my African bug crawl.
Have been in SA several times with an NGO in the late 90s and early 200x. Have been all over the country. Was last in Mbombela in 2007. Jesus, time flies.
Would be a dream to travel SA in such lovely vehicles.
We had VW microbus. The best 2WD offroad vehicle I know ;) . The front bumper skirt must be somewhere on Sani pass, still.
Regards to Capetown (we had a great time on the Lions Head Scout base) and to Jo'burg.
From Leverkusen Germany

BFG just replaced my KM2 tyres for the new KM3 tyres due to some cracking - great service from a Co that stands by their product.

Will this 76 series non airbag wheel be a bolt on for my 1999 HZJ 75 Troopy, anyone please ?

Instead I decided to cover what I had, and just in time for a 7 000km roundtrip to the Caprivi ....

That looks perfect. You did it yourself or buy a kit?
I'm strongly considering this for my own truck.

I found a self-taught, unemployed young man who recently started doing these for an income and gave him the chance - he made the sleeve and padding before doing a house-call to do the installation at a fraction of what the "pros" charge .... I do not have such skills.

And thanks to a very good old friend, she now runs on OEM 16 " 80 series steelies too.

Spacers? That full floater is all painted and clean, is that how you bought it? If so, I'd be suspicious what the paint it covering. What's the plan with that, slap it in as-is or add a locker?

My current spacers will remain. Ignore the paint as it is from Botswana so we will strip and go through it from top to bottom. If there is enough $ left in my limited kitty, I might get to fit a Terrain Tamer elocker before we go to Moremi in October ..

So when the FF axle arrived, it was not as rebuilt as it was said to have been, the ratio was 3.7 instead of the claimed 4.11 etc ...

But the housing was clearly a replacement unit as its condition did not correspond to the rest of the parts and the halfshafts were also still goodso after getting a partial refund from the seller, things changed. We then decided to use all the required bits from my "old" 129k km SF axle.Surprisingly it all swapped over and together like a lego set.

Found one !
But it is not for the narrow nose so we will have to modify it some and make provision for the gauge pod also ..

Hello,

Do they make these covers for LHD trucks?

Hi Juan

Caracal used to export quite a bit but then Covid hit and all production has stopped.I heard the owner wants to relocate and then start again. I will let you know if something happens. Mine was a leftover in a container with a few bits but that is it for now
