Small update...
I got a free hour and a half today so I started pulling things apart.

Been talking with pradocruiser and he has run into some issues with the spitronic for the auto Trans. Going to be looking into some options to run the Prado Trans off the 1uz ECU.

Out of curiosity, what car did the engine come out of? I am assuming that it was mated to an A34x transmission, and wondered how that transmission is controlled.

It will be awesome to see this swap fully documented!

When does the used parts sale start for the 2L te crowd? LOL

You get farther in an hour than I do in a day! Nice.

Thank you. I have a 1 and a half year old son now so my shop time has completely halted compared to what it used to be, but as he is getting older I am starting to get some time out there.

As for the used parts, There will be a sale for sure and ill let you guys know about it before I post things online. I want to wait till I have everything in and running then I will start going though things. I have a few decent parts that are freshly redone in the last year or so. (Turbo, alternator, injectors etc...)

The engine is out of a 92 Lexus LS400. It uses a similar style trans, because of this I am able to swap the bellhousing, pump and torque converter onto my trans. Typically I think guys are using a stand alone ecu for the trans (like spitronic) but I do know others on the other side of the pond that are running the stock Lexus ecu for engine AND trans management. Information on this seems to be limited... but this is the route I hope to go. One step at a time.

I'm pretty sure it's just a case of removing the tail housing for the auto trans and fitting the lj78 transfer case, only thing is you need to drill the transfer case housing for the gearbox speed sensor as the lj78 uses a signal from the dashboard speedo and the Lexus has its own sensor.

I think you also have to shorten the tail shaft, or swap it. Most people shorten it, as swapping is a huge PITA.

If you want to have the Lexus ECU control your transmission (which I think is a good idea), this is probably the way to go @Postoy .

I am going to do everything I can to use the stock ECU. I should (fingers crossed) have the engine out this weekend. It will be nice to have them side by side to compare.

I noticed in that post about the 1uz Jimny build that gearing wasn't the greatest. I will most likely stick with 33's on the stock geared axles. I am hoping the crawl ratio isn't too fast. Might have to look at a R+P swap down the road...
