Want me to run down the street again???:D

I'm sure I'll recruit you again before long. Used some help from my :princess: and 7 yr old son (and electric hoist) recently. That wasn't the best idea :frown:

Thanks for your support!

Alot of states dont require a title on vehicles over 10 years old. All you need is a bill of sale and you can apply for a new title and register the vehicle. Check with your local dmv and see what they say. That is if the PO will at least give you a bill of sale.

Rusted Out Windshield Frame

Well I wasnt expecting to find the amount of rust in the Windshield frame. Looks like I will need to cut it out and weld in a patch.

Does anyone know how to remove these 2 vents to blow on the windshield?

There are plastic rivets holding them on. Push in the center of the plastic rivet and this will drive out the plastic rod which holds the rivet in. Then pry up on the rivet and remove the deflectors. You can reuse the rivet or probably get new ones from Napa or whoever. job

cheers,
Daryl

Thanks worked great!

Moving right along and looking great there Alex. How is your patience holding up bud? Was able to get mine titled and got to drive her to work this morning for the first time. I'll email you a pic. Still needs a few things like a front bumper but at least she is road worthy. Next roadtrip will be to Kentucky ;)

anyway you can post some pics from the rear and low so I can see how wide the rims/ tires are from rear view?

thanks

Great build, and I'm a big fan of the light olive with black rims:grinpimp:

I don't know how I did not know about this thread before, but I have just read through the whole thing.

Cheers,

Josh

I will be happy to when I get tub back on frame.

Had to make some adjustments...

Wow that was quite the windstorm. I know you guys get hammered with them all the time but that one looked bad. Your rig is looking awesome man.

Did you ever get the answer to the bumper / body sill aligment question? I measured mine up just now and it is pretty much flush, the bumper is inboard maybe an 1/8th of an inc but that could just be rusting on my truck.

Did you get a solution to your body mount alignment? Hope you didn't have to do anything drastic, tub was looking awesome!

I took the tub back off the frame and measured the DS from mid body mount to DS rear body mount and then DS mid body mount to PS rear body mount (a triangle). I then measured the same from PS mid body mount to PS rear body mount, and PS mid body mount to DS rear body mount.

Bottom line...I was 1/2" too long on PS, so I removed all bolts from rear crossmember and with the help of a tow strap tightened up, drilled new holes and gained back 3/8." I then slotted the body mounts a bit so I would have a little wiggle room.

I have yet to set the tub back on the frame but I believe this is going to solve my problems.:hhmm:

This windstorm keeps me out of the garage this weekend (well at least till night fall). Let's see what I can accomplish in a long 3 day weekend! :wrench:

I'm with HJ47, That light olive with black trim looks really good.

Hoping I can get back on track on my build. Just finished cleaning up all the mess from Thunderstorm / Tornado!

I was going to let somebody else do it till I was given a $5,000 estimate!

My friends call me cheap, I call myself realistic plus I don't mind getting my hands dirty.

Got sidetracked again...

Well I bought an M416 trailer on a whim. Always have thought they look pretty cool behind an FJ40, so when one came available within 60 miles of my home, I jumped on it.

Plan is to hit with Rust Bullet and paint in same 6H9 paint as truck. Maybe paint the rims black. Below is a similar trailer I found on web. Obviously different color and I probably wouldn't put the stencil markings all over it (although very cool).

The 40 remains 1st priority, the trailer will come last. :D
