I agree with you 100%! I've been all over the world, and still think Hawaii is one of the most beautiful and special places.

I agree. First bit of work will be removing and controlling the rust problem areas. If the Selectro hubs work, they will most likely stay.

Yes, most likely going in the direction of a stock wheel setup. But may look into those 16' steel wheels that look stock, but stay with a skinnier tire. Haven't seen you post anything about your 80 lately, did you sell it to get the fj55?

Thanks! The 60 really is something special.

Sounds like a great plan, let me know when you are coming out! Can a 40 front fender fit in a suitcase?!;)

I'd have customs to go through once to get it into Canada and then to go back. I'll drop you a line if I'm coming

I sold the 80 in February, because I took a job in Afghanistan on a whim. Moving it back to the US at short notice was cost prohibitive, so off it went.

Was actually looking for a 40, when I stumbled onto the 55.

I returned from Afg in October, and Zeke was waiting for me when I got back.

Hey congrats on the new addition to the fleet Jen. You and Mike are indeed addicted. :)

Let me know if you need anything with the project build.

Thanks Onur! I'm sure Mike will be placing hefty orders with you as soon as we start working on this one.

Close to you? I spotted this in Lahina a couple of years ago. (may be a re-post)?

Hey @beno you gotta golf bag? Maybe they need one of the 4 last remaining new 2F crankshafts in the USA. You could toss one in your bag and deliver it to Hawaii:cheers:

edit- oops it’s the last 4 2F camshafts that beno snagged. Sorry for the hijack, just joking with beno. Here’s his thread. Ultimate OEM 4X SERIES PARTS IN STOCK

I don't know where Lahina is, but if you meant Lahaina.....then no, it's on Maui and I'm on Oahu. But looks like a beautiful 40!

Definitely don’t play golf. I would sell one to Mike and Jen if they needed one.
First I will need to educate myself on what a crankshaft is to know if I need one, but I'm sure Mike would probably know if we did. But if there are only 4 left in existence, it sounds like they might me more money then what we paid for our old rusty 40! Hopefully with the two 2F's we have, there is one good crankshaft in there.

Hey Aloha Jen, just read the buildups on your HJ60 and your 80, looking forward to seeing the great work you will do on your 40! I was watching that 40 on the Craigslist too, glad it went to a good home.

Hey AlohaJen, I have a spare chrome rim and tire that matches the ones you installed on your HJ60, it came with my FJ40 but since its not the right one its just taking up space in my garage, its yours for free if you want it for a spare tire. Let me know and its yours. Aloha

Great to see you're onto yet another series of Land Cruiser. This one should keep you busy for some time yet - congrats !

Jen i am a big fan of the fj40. I have a custom fab shop on the east side where i build hotrods and custom bikes. If you need any help or on the job traing in welding give me a shout. I am currently looking for a fj40.

Aloha,
Bobby

Wow, Jen!

You & the Mr have really jumped in /both feet over the last couple yrs - you'll be a mini-LC museum in short order!

-and from a fellow enabler, that's not a bad thing ;)

@Aloha Jen Just stumbled upon your new project and I'm about to cry, you and the hubby are on your 3rd one and I am no where close to what your 60 looks like. We know that this will be another epic build and we are looking forward to all the upcoming post, is your hubby camera shy? You never had a picture with him. That's it I'm pulling out both my kids from boarding school and send them to public school, I need a 40 now!:bang::cheers:

I'm heading to Oahu and Kauai in July. Can't wait. I don't know if I like the scenery or the Cruisers more in your pics. I'm about where you are with my barn-find '74. Good luck bringing this one back to life.

Good to know you are out there, maybe we will stop by next time we are on Kaneohe side. Where is your shop at?

Seriously, we had to buy a bigger property and move just to house the Land Cruisers!

Technically, its our 4th LC if you count the 120 series Prado! And there are a few pics of Mike on our build threads, but he is kinda anti having an online presence. He's on here sometimes, goes by username @pescado. 40 series are definitely much cooler then boarding school!

Sad, page 3 of this thread has no pictures posted....which is definitely not my style! First one is of my 2017 Christmas card of my Land Cruiser family I posted in the different series forums.

I wish I had some more exciting updated pictures to post of the 40, but it may be parked for some time before it gets worked on. It will be in this spot until the new garage space is completed.

And sadly, I only got to drive it the first day it came home (technically I only steered it while Mr AlohaJen pushed it!). Probably only a total of 30 ft from where the tow truck dropped it to its parked spot. It was a fun while it lasted, but definitely looking forward to longer drives!

But one of my favorite parts of this 40 is this awesome Honolulu Parks and Rec Dept decal! Don't know if someone just swiped one from the county and stuck it on, or if this was a county truck back in the day cruising the parks in the 70s and 80s! It would be cool to be able to keep it on there.

Hey Jen,
I remember seeing in the 80's or 90's in the City and County/Dept of Transportation lot under the freeway in Waimalu, they had 60's as county trucks. So hey, possibly the 40 was a County Vehicle too, you never know.
