Ok you guys were right on the toybox shifter, thanks a bunch. The twin sticks are done so here are some pictures of that. I figure every time I park now I will just throw the transmission in neutral, the toybox is neutral and the transfer case in neutral and a potential thief would be so confused they would find another car! The twin sticks shift 1000 times better than the factory setup so I pumped for that.

The twin sticks turned out great. When you get the driveshafts? How is it looking for Rubicon? You are going to be crawling soon.:)

4 on the floor

Ain't nobody going to argue with you when you say you have a 4 on the floor. Excelent photo's and all. Good luck in the rocks.:D:D:steer:

Big D you are the coolest!

Im humbled by your super radness!

Hey btw is that a new custom plywood floor for the garage ? nice! :grinpimp::hillbilly:
Nice job

Cant wait to check it !

so how much are you planning on charging for the twin stick set up and cross member? cause im gunna be needing em in the not to distant future.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, Sam pm me when you are ready to do some mods, I'm only 3-4 hours away and we can mod up your stuff for cheap.

Well everything is in, I just ran out of time so I won't be making it to Rubithon this year. Tuesday night I stayed up all night until morning to try and get everything loaded, strapped down and buttoned up, but I simply ran out of time. . .

I'll post up some results from a one day trip over the weekend after I see how it feels.

Nah man, that is what I thought too but I am burnt out on working on it until 1:00 AM. I don't have the time to build a complete Rubicon worthy belly pan to protect my inve$tment. After I got it installed I drove it in double low over some rocks and watched the movement in the transfercase and it worried me a bit. My transmission mount was in good shape so I feel an extra crossmember or fully integrated belly pan is mandatory for high torque and low gears.

Dylan

Been there done that... so I know what you mean on being burnt out.

When Rockey built my crossmember/skid he added the mini truck mount to the Toy Box, so I have both mounts. So far so good, I kinda think it's keeping my engine mount in one piece.

Exactly. I've got the mini truck mount for the toybox also so that will get integrated. Even if I got a cross member under the Toybox I still would have liked to extend something back to protect the now vulnerable transfer case. I like that one Rocky built for you that came out sweet, and I was thinking about doing the same and dropping mine off at FC Fab to save some time. Now that I have some time to breathe and plan something a bit, I may take a stab at it with some help from a few friends.

DUUUUUUUDE!
That sucks SOOOOOO BAD that you werent able to go.
Im truly disappointed to hear that!
BBCNN is doing the con in Aug. and it's be nice to have another 60 along!
Something to consider!
Wanna do Deer Valley Sunday?
Im looking to go! I pm'd Ken, too about it.

Was it all the overhang behind the tranny that was causing excessive movement?
I was wondering about that. Thats a lot of mass hangin off the back end.

Wise, wise. I've got a new trani mount sitting on the bench from last year. 1" body lift and my sliders still managed to dent the body, not to mention the tail ligths, rear bumper bent (1/4" plate steel & 2x4 steel), almost punched hole in aux. tank, rear locker blown, front drive shaft worn from hitting a highly modified trani-support.

To say the least, I'm amazed at what our cruisers can go through and keep on going.

Enjoy your truck Dylan, it's blue that's the best part :)

Hey Bob nice to hear from you! I think I made the right decision. I really worked hard on it down to the last minute and spent a bunch of money on it, but didn't want to throw all of it away by damaging it.

Jason

Everything seems fine in 1-1 but when everything goes into low then s*** starts to move around a bit much for my liking. I'm drawing up a belly pan design in AutoCAD right now. I think I am going to make it one piece and integrate the transmission mount and toybox mount into the same crossmember. I like that one Rocky built for you. . .

Dylan

So its the 200:1(+) causing the movement not the extra length/leverage of the Toy Box, right?

when you do the math it's insane to think of how much torque you put to the rear axle shafts when your doubled up 40,000 - 70,000 foot pounds.

I don't think it helps that all everything is hanging off the very front of the transmission where the factory mount is. Basically it is the back half of the transmission + the toybox + the split case. The toybox and split case alone weigh 119 lbs and the h55f weighed in at about 146 lbs. I layed underneath it for what seemed like years throughout this process and the fj60 really does not have that many crossmembers. I know a properly designed fully built belly pan would tighten things up greatly. A little bit of movement is mandatory to relieve some of the pressure and stresses associated with the numbers you are saying, but the movement I am seeing is excessive. I am planning on taking it out over a two day trip this weekend to get some real world results. Work on the crossmember will start Monday or Tuesday after work.

when I first got mine done, I just threw on the stock crossmember and used some ratchet straps to hold it up. In low low the shifter would hit the passenger :D

let me find some pic's of my crossmember for ya
