A lot of people said the same thing about my wheels !. Wheels are part of my life, and want it to have something to reminded me of on my first owned cruiser. I had the same set 20 years ago on a FJ60 and love them ever since. The GOOD part for some folk is that those ugly wheels are only for the trail. I had to switch them from my 1100 in order to roll the 40 out of the garage. For those who wrote against it, thanks for your sincerety ! I'll keep in mind the black rattle can !

Here's another picture with the DD. as it was on the way to Crum's Welding Shop in NJ for a new Roll Cage and Sliders.

Thanks James for posting this up!

Dam those are some ugly rims on that trailer................heheehhe

Man leave those 80 series rims and tires on the 40. They look great on the 40. You can then sell those fugly rims to a local neighborhood pimp. :hillbilly:

Are the spare tire mounting locations reenforced? I've heard of some ripping out of the body with larger wheels.

I'd hate to see such a nice body get all torn up if the mount ripped out.

H*** those are not even pimp wheels anymore, there not big enough. ... I'd run on my 60, i'm just kinda redneck that way.

Seriously... Really sweet 40... You will love the JimC motor...

I've flipped another tire carrier and added top tub inner bracket for support. I've done this one time in the past and no problems with 36's on the rear.
Main reason for this concept is the extra weight on the rear!
Here's a pic before it was painted yellow !

While we're talking about rims... would you happen to know or be able to find out what the backspacing is on those rims? Maybe someone else can chime in. I have a SOA BJ42 and will be putting 35 12.5 r15 tires on the truck.

I've searched the posts but everyone has something different to say... 3.5', 4, 3 3/4, etc...

I see you`ve been busy,Dan.How come there`s no pics with the cage installed?Keep up the good work.

David

Man you did a great job on his cage and the mounting to the frame. Very nice advertisement for your work, also nice work on the sliders.

Depends on the manufacturer, width and application I'll say ! Mines are (unknown brand) 15x10 with 4" backspace, no spacers!

Looking good Daniel. I do like the cage in there, it really pulls the rig together. Now, if you would just FINISH it and get it out in the woods with us!

So David: THIS is how I have to first see your truck!
