Thanks Noah.

An update- Its halfway through Saturday and as of now; Glass bead blasted the intake manifold, resealed it and polished up the carb, etc. Basically the top of the 350 is all set up. Also I put a wire brush on my grinder and took the transmission back down to bare metal. It actually looks pretty cool so I think im going to polish it and put a clear coat over it. We also sprayed the intake manifold with a clear coat so that it would clean up in the future much more efficiently. All of the remaining engine parts have also been painted. Tonight the transmission will go on and the rest of the engine parts. Ill post more pictures in a bit.

DAMN TORQUE CONVERTER BOLTS!!! well everthing was on schedual and ready to bolt up the tranny when---we discovered we were missing the torque converter bolts. All the parts stores closed at nine, so it has to be pushed back to tmrow.

Eli

In case the parts stores don't have any TQ bolts, most people use finespline grade 8 bolts instead..

Check your local ACE HARDWARE for both metric and standard bolts. Most get from the same supplier and stock a good number of metrics. (I worked at one through college and have found that still holds true :))
Oh - where dod you get the boxed motor? (And how much?)

Find the Mr Gasket section of your auto parts stores. I use to work at a Hi Lo auto parts while I was going to school and we had torque converter bolts, also carb, intake and exaust bolts and gaskets in that section too.

I ordered the crate 350 (GM....8:1 compression....260hp) from Jegs. It was about 1500 with shipping and such. I was very pleased with them- sent it out on somthing like a thursday, and I recieved it the next wed....not too bad for somthing that had to be shipped frieght. They have one for 2400 or somthing like that which comes with everything on it I beleive, but since I allready had an old 350, I just swapped it all over.

Will do. There was a short hang up with the California emmissions issue...but that was solved in another thread. So- back to building. Today I order the rest of the knuckle parts I need, and soon the tranny will be in- which means new pictures- with it on wheels. Cheers.

Eli

Cool pics Eli!! They look almost surreal

Keep 'em coming

That looks really clean....nice work.

Just a question...Is that air cleaner going to fit under the hood? Looks like it sticks up kinda high? I guess you've got a little time to figure that one out :)

It does appear to be quite high, somehow it manages to fit under the hood though. Same setup as the PO had, only new.

The bell housing has been polished and clear coated...but the transfer case is gonna need alot of TLC and some good engine degreaser before its ready for paint.

Im not sure how anything is accomplished in the mess...but whenever I go to clean it up I somehow get distracted.
