Good to see the progress Frank! Peter told me you would be dropping a line. So what do we have here for wiring....Wrong plug! send that pic to Jeff at FIS. That should get you started. The wiring for the harness hook up is as follows:
Red-12V ignition This requires power when the key is on. Tap in at the IGN fuse inside the cab. Or you can get it on the harness.
Purple- That is the brake switch. (Lock up on the tranny) You will need to get a dual switch from painless or summit. about 30.00. It will allow you to run the brake lights and the tranny lock up. Because your brake lights work backwards from the tranny lock up.
White- is Tach output. This is where you will hook up your Tach YOU CANNOT USE YOUR OLD TACH. unless it is recalibrated or aftermarket.
Pink and brown-are the MIL light. You will also need a cheap ind. lamp from the parts store...or you can wire it to the choke light in the dash. Just remember to label it as you Malfunction Ind.
Gray- Goes direct to your fuel pump.
Green- Goes to your fan for the radiator.
Also A/C requires a relay. The toy system cannot handle the pull on the A/C circuit. The A/C on request wire is put in at your A/C unit for signal to kick on. You can get with me when you get that far.
You will use your OLD starter conection to engage the starter. Clip of the old plug and put you a loop on there and you will be ready.
Use a Chevy EVAP canister. It has to be from the donor.
I will forward you the fuel system stuff I use. Nice work again....Maybe I will catch up to you on the 2 installs I have going!![]()
Boy, that pedal looks completely different than the one that came off my 2006 'burb I that I got my 5.3 out of. Looks a lot like the pedal that went with my Cummins repower. That's a plastic 'arm' between the mounting bracket and pedal - isn't it? Have you been able to mount it successfully? Would love to see that picture.
Peter
Frank,
I've got an extra bracket for that type of DBW gas pedal. I ordered two by mistake for my V8 conversion (which by the way, has been slower than molasses.) If you want it, let me know. Give me you address and I can send it to you. The metal bracket will give you some mounting points to screw the pedal into the truck. It's #4 in the picture.
Also, if you look at the lower picture, #10 is a TAC module that you will need if you don't already have it. It has 2 connections. Your gas pedal wire connects to it, and so does a wire from your engine. I think mine was about $35.
It's fully adjustable and has a return port for the rear dump. Also the PN# for the gauge is on the sheet. It was like 12.00. Really makes trouble shooting easy when you don't have to break out a gauge. Now go get that wiring done so we can hear this thing fire up!! And you are correct crank sensor is by the starter. and you are welcome! anytime! But you will owe us someafter the first test drive.

Hey Frank,
My pedal is a plastic one and it looks just like yours. We've got the same L59 engine. I'm pretty sure this bracket I've got will fit the pedal. And then you may have to modify it a little to bolt it to the floorboard.
I don't think they have a metal DriveByWire gas pedal for these GM vehicles. Do they?
