Last post until mid July... Doors - yeah - I ended up farming that out - way above my skillset. I say this a lot... that FJ40's are the adult version of legos. I knew the driver door came from a blue cruiser, and now you do too.

Chem stripped - put primer coat on for rust - fixed low spots- for the main issue, put a inflatable pad in the door and expanded it to fix the bow - noticed window frame area of door all jacked too - so Chris went after that. Patched some CCOT door patch for the pin hole rot at the bottom of both doors. Sand to find low spots, back it it to correct - then paint. I dropped the doors off at Russ's (and a key lime pie to beat the heat) - no real time to install, plus it is warm, no reason to close it up yet. All new weather stripping inside and out (new metal channels for window - new cranks, door cards etc.

Picts below.

While not a Full Cruiser update, does have Toyota and partial YELLR info

Highlander got me to northern tip of Nova Scotia to get on boat to Newfoundland overnight. Landed at sunrise. Got a local brew to end day.

And on Cruiser front, some OEM rims arrived.

The Gang’sta lean. 😎

I’ve a touch of it myself. I’m blaming it on an overloaded romp around the lake one afternoon.

You’re looking 1st rate…🏆

That’s PERFECT Bryan. Wouldn’t touch a thing. Your mission now is to wheel that thing at SAS and snap an ‘after’ pic of the lean.😉

@OlYellr you have a modern 40 I see. Beautiful work on it from what I’ve read so far! So the Turn indicators on the front … amber for the blinker and top white is running light?

Thank- yes the amber blinks, hazard or turn.

Park light (not sure of the name for that section) - and small white light on side.

Some aftermarket replacements only come with two wires vs three.

Thanks.

Just some fine tuning… check/adjust valves, check carb (lean drop) since fixed a few big vacuum leaks and the alignment.

after all the work done, front wheels don’t look right. Would have thought with new trunion bearing it would has been better. Still has that ‘Jack Elam’ look I posted spring of ‘23.

And, yes, to go and enjoy! Thx

Similar to owning a house. Doesn't matter what you do, there will be continuing costs, even if you build a new one. In a few years the paint starts failing, the water heater needs an ignitor, that fricking gutter that leaks. Etcetera.
I am convinced the person who coined the phrase " the joys of home ownership" never really owned a home

I've owned three houses in various levels of decay. lol From new, to we should throw a match at this thing.

I was going to build a house last summer after my divorce. I currently rent. I pay $1350 a month for a 5 bedroom house on acreage in the country. That includes utilities and I don't have to plow snow, or mow the grass. I might die in this house.

Well, living vicariously as I continue to to eat moose burgers and fish with mustard pickles up north. (Living off the appetizer menu to try more)

My brother-in-law got to NE yesterday, loaded up the OEM caps & rims and dropped off at Russ’s today. YELLR will be in the town 4th parade. I look forward to the pictures.

Huge shout out to Russ for he’s help and patience the last month or so. Truly art meets craft.

On to picts.

There’s just something about the YOTA Bling…🏆

News from the prairie— YELLR new rims…

The PO had spacers put on with offset rims etc. didn’t like that so why I was on the hunt for new rims (and Russ was right, just about anything would look better).

New rims on today and another thread got tugged. Russ noticed while driving it around that the tire will occasionally hit the exhaust now. Ok for the parade tomorrow- but will unravel that someway before SAS.

Mark (@Green Bean) did his muffler and header recently and sent me the parts he got. It sounds sweet. Will see how it all unfolds shortly.

Happy 4th.

I was checking email and saw BAT just posted and ‘82 FJ40 and thought I’d look at that exhaust- similar… it is the driver rear location.

My guess is that since the gas tank moved to under the car around ‘79 they had to reroute the exhaust so it wasn’t too close.

Making me think skinny pizza cutter tires back in the day didn’t present this issue vs the wide KO2 that I have.

Well got to hit the road, destination is to DC for fireworks at a friends. Then bust out tomorrow to Nebraska
