and he stinks. Despite spending 3 days lining the perimeter of the property with welded vinyl fence staked in the ground and chicken wire in some of the brushier areas, the little fawker got out and into some skunk nest or something.

3 baths now of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda mixed with a little mild detergent.

Seems to be doing the trick. Now I gotta get the smell off me!

do you think he learned his lesson?

:D

I had 2 babies in the street a few weeks ago. I went and got the full auto soft air A/R and squeezed one off, you know......... Just to test the water. He jumped, threw his tail up and pointed that puckered ass in my direction........I had about 20 yards and my girl was laughing so hard I could not see strait. I flipped it to auto and let off a burst..........WOW. It was like a sprinkler went off for a minute out of his ass.....................Sorry neighbors, it was me......It was funny......

skunks make for good stories. i came within 2 feet of one on saturday night walking between two buildings with my kids. he was coming up the stairs, and I almost stepped on him going down and he hissed at me and starts turning around. I am trying to turn around and make tracks and the kids haven't quite had the implications of me yelling skunk sink in so they want to see it and I'm hollering "skunk, go back" and they are going forward towards it saying "let me see" so I had to grab the kids and just drag'em. luckily no harm done, but the wife trailing 30 feet behind was killing herself laughing.

Years ago a neighbor Samoyed got sprayed while the parents were out of town. The three young girls (high school age) came over asking for any thing with tomato to get the stink out (we didn't know about the peroxide, baking soda and soap routine). Well they washed the sammy twice and each time the dog got a deeper shade of pink. Ends up that Samoyed's fur is hollow and each time they washed it w/ tomato juice/soup it was drawn further up the hollow hair. That poor dog was pink for almost 3 weeks.

That dog, that house? Wait, what web site am I on? :grinpimp:

LOL, good luck with the hound. At least you're not dealing with such a large surface area. :D

I was camping in an open-end pup tent in high school, and my stupid friend left half a bag of chips out--at some point in the night, a skunk walked right through our tent to get to the bag. We just stayed realllllll still while he finished them and went on.

Actually, the skunk smell doesn't bother me, even up close. Meh.

Awww... thanks... oh wait, you meant the pooch.

Doubt it. It's in a Cairn's blood to go after any rodent.

Guess I'm on fence duty again soon.

We solved problem of small wandering animals in the yard in an old house by installing an electic cattle fence low to the ground... got lots of kicks from the squirells getting knocked over when they came in contact... but it did solve the possum in the yard problem we were having. I did it after the dog caught and almost killed three that I had to dispatch to Neverland with the shovel and then bury. I figured that the whole back yard would be a possum grave yard if I didn't take some action.

Never used it yet (knocking on wood), but got this from somewhere. If you use it, post up how it goes.....

Easy de-skunk formula

In a large jar mix:
1/4 cup baking soda
1 quart hydrogen peroxide
1 tsp liquid dishwashing detergent
Mix well and pour over the animal's fur, being careful to avoid the eyes and mouth. Let sit for about 20 minutes and rinse well.

CAUTION: Do NOT store this mixture in a covered container. Dispose of all unused mixture immediately. It is a chemical mixture and can create explosive gasses if contained in a covered container.

That's exactly what we used. My wife looked it up on the interweb.
