Never used it yet (knocking on wood), but got this from somewhere. If you use it, post up how it goes.....

Easy de-skunk formula

In a large jar mix:
1/4 cup baking soda
1 quart hydrogen peroxide
1 tsp liquid dishwashing detergent
Mix well and pour over the animal's fur, being careful to avoid the eyes and mouth. Let sit for about 20 minutes and rinse well.

CAUTION: Do NOT store this mixture in a covered container. Dispose of all unused mixture immediately. It is a chemical mixture and can create explosive gasses if contained in a covered container.

It works but I needed to do it 2x for my pup that was chasing the skunk.

I flipped it to auto and let off a burst..........WOW. It was like a sprinkler went off for a minute out of his ass.....................Sorry neighbors, it was me......It was funny......
LOL!

I was down in the Florida panhandle camping one weekend and had my Australian Shepherd with me. Sometime during the night I heard him take off after something, and then he gave a short excited bark. In a few moments this odiferous fog rolled in and I was sure I was going to be spending the next couple of days with a horribly rank dog. Plus the drive back home was about 200 miles and I was surely not looking forward to having the dog in the car with me for that. But he came trotting back in a few minutes and smelled ok, except for his breath. He had taken a full load of skunk musk directly in his mouth.

I hate it when the dog gets into those damn polecats. But I think the 350 lb bear he treed today while going on a run with my wife is of greater concern.

Well my girl Sam got sprayed on Monday night. It appears that the skunk got her neck area. The smell was overwhelming, and tainted the entire house.
I purchased Nature's Miracle Skunk Smell remover (http://www.natures-miracle.com/prod...nk-odor-remover-how-to-remove-skunk-odor.aspx) and it seems to be doing the job. She has been washed in it twice thus far, but she still has a faint skunk smell. How long does this smell last? I assume that I should wash her again? Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Zack

Well .. I have "heard" that smoke from a wood fire will neutralize the smell ( and the chemical causing the smell) ...apparently the expedient treatment in the bush is to build a smoky fire and two guys holding the dog by fore and rear legs swing the mutt through the smoke.

I have no idea if this works but I betcha the dog will stay away from you for a while after this treatment ... and if he's smart enough to relate it to the skunk encounter ... probably stay away from skunks too!!

Make friends with it.:hillbilly:

It permeates the pores and hair and will come back to visit on a hot humid day..

Personally I don't mind the smell as long as it is not straight from the manufacture..
