I just printed this to add to my 'Book of 60 Knowledge'. Great work, thanks.
I especially appreciate you adding in all the alternative ways to approach things.

jfnall - great ideas that I'll add to the v2 list.

Especially adding in the pics from this thread will be great.

Thanks for taking a look, and let me know if you see/think of anything else.

Borick-

fantastic work there.

thats something i really wish was available when i did my desmog. woulda been nice. instead i sifted thru 40 pages of stuff and bugged the hell outta Jim. lol

Did the same thing but i have to be honest, i know my cruiser a hell of a lot better than i would if i was just handed a desmog walk-through.

That said, i still think Borick did a great write up.

very true ^ i know my truck like the back of my hand now. gotta love learning a new engine

mweb - hope you don't view this as a hijack of your thread, but have been looking for a place to post this doc for comment and came across your thread. (I might also cross-post to "My Desmog Thread".)

Anyway, this is sort of a "how to" doc that I put together to desmog an FJ60 2F. Virtually ALL the info came from "My Desmog Thread". It has pictures and labels similar to yours here, and is easy to print out and carry to the truck. I think it's consistent with what you've done.

Input/feedback VERY MUCH wanted. I will correct as needed.

I haven't desmogged yet (waiting for carb/dizzy before I dive in), but wanted to post this to get feedback, and also - like you - to hopefully give others a hand.

Good work Borick.
There are some things to clarify/correct. How do we work on this together?

Yep, agree about learning about your truck/engine. Just putting this thing together taught me a lot and I'm sure I'll learn a lot more after actually doing the deed!

Jim - it would be great to work on this together. Happy to be scribe for your expertise. Should I just send you an email and we go from there, or...?

Borick, no worries bud...the more info on this subject the better. As soon as the little fixes are in the doc, I will edit my first post and put it there at the top so it is easier to get to. Good job...I know if Jim is going through it he will catch the ones I did, I just wanted to add that I didn't have any trouble getting the air rail off after some PB Blaster and I imagine someone will need the ones that are taken off. I know when I was still in Cali, I had to buy some little tubing and braze in a new tube after the PO had tried to fix it. Very good work!

Cool, thanks mweb! I'll get in touch after the doc gets fixed and polished so you can update your post. And I did just add a note that the air rail comes off easy for some people (hope I'm one of 'em).

Yep. Jim has it now and is making changes/clarifications. Not sure when he'll finish but will post back here when that happens, and with an ETA of when it'll be finished.

whats the update on the Doc Borick?

did Jim get a chance to take a look at it?

Jim has had the doc for about a month now and is working his magic on it. I pinged him a couple of weeks back and haven't gotten a response yet. Imagine he's pretty swamped. Sent him an email today too and will let folks know when I hear back.

Hey, I sent that back! :p

This information is priceless, Thanks to Jim C and Borick for putting the effort into this and making it available to the forum.

Updated doc

OK, here's draft 2 after numerous edits, corrections, and improvements from FJ40Jim. Thanks, Jim.

This version also has the original versions and Jim's edited versions of the component layout and schematic diagrams - those diagrams that everyone always refers to when talking about desmogging.

I also tried to include the photos from mwebfj60. They're a nice addition but they made the document too large to attach as a MUD attachment, and I don't have an alternative way to host the document. Until/unless that gets solved I just included a reference to this thread.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the MUD gods to let me have bigger attachments?

Here's the doc:

Like before, comments, corrections and input would be great.
