Will do. I land at 11:30 tonight so I will wake up tomorrow in a whole new world from Texas. We will hit road early to start the search. I got several more leads today so it will be a busy weekend.

Search is underway. It is Land Cruiser heaven here. I have seen every variation so far. I could sit on a corner and watch trucks drive by all day long and be happy. Here are a few that we looked at or just admired. Still have more to look at before we call it a day and regroup for tomorrow.

This one looks like a contender.

I'm trying my best not to like It due to being over my budget. It's owned by a German who is the original owner. It's been "restored". He showed me pictures of the tub rust repairs. It's got lots of paint on it. He had to scratch through the layer on the frame so I could match the number to the engine.

That light green one looks like it has been 4x4 wheeled a lot..round shape of back wheel fender don't look right-looks like it has been rust repaired...Germans are usually very picky I lived there for 7 years. From the pictures I like the first one the best..

This one was the last one we looked at today. It is a 1975 that was originally a 24 volt truck. Owner pulled the engine and put in a 12 volt engine during its "restore". It sat for 5 years while he saved money to finish. He has had it running in present condition for about a year. He told me his mechanic friend told him to change the rings in it due to it sitting as a precaution. It didn't smoke and he drove it 3 hours to meet us. Body and frame were the best looking so far. Plain and simple, nothing fancy on this one. 7K

Yep, the red one gets my vote.

Cim, bring me a fold down tailgate :)
They have those here. All I have seen are ambulance doors. I asked about pick n pulls but that concept is non existent around here.

Most of the 40's it looked at have great stories that go with them. The one I posted with the horrible paint job was originally bought by the Costa Rican CEO of Coka Cola. Then sold to the second owner who replaced the B with a 2B along with Nissan rear disc brakes, 4Runner front disc, and Nissan power steering. It's been fun talking to the owners. Through my translater of course.

I have imported 6 bj40 cruisers from Costa Rica and even after close personal inspection not one of them came without many well hidden issues. Costa Ricans are artists with their body filler lol... B and 3b diesel parts are getting harder and harder to come by and you end up spending way more than they are worth... I hate to be negative on the subject but you would have been money far ahead if you had purchased a pre smog fj40 and slapped one of many common to find parts for 4 cylinder Diesels in it... I wish you all the luck regardless! Costa Rica is a beautiful place with great people and is worth the visit!

Looking good! Paperwork seems good.
Imported in April 1975
