Apart from the 70 series lights, I prefer the overall look of the second one.
I actually prefer the look of the 70 series lights but don't like rear fender flared out. There are a few issues with the second one. Trying to get more photos and videos. The video they sent was pretty worthless. It's 4 hours from my friend so we need a lot of info before I ask him to go look at it.

"no one use it. Only Mr grandpa, who goes to church every Sunday in it"

WHERE have I heard that before?

Here is the walk around video that doesn't really do anything to sell the truck. Does show some problem areas that are a concern. Need to get something showing the interior and engine.

I like how they avoided showing any of the bottom rear but instead showed the top of the ambulance doors. I would have to do a personal inspection before I would buy a cruiser from another country and ship it here. I have 82 tub that is in better shape then that a PO parted out because of rust.

No kidding. I laughed when they stuck the camera in the wheel well like that was going to show anything.

I'm enjoying your thread! Best of luck finding one -- I hope you find a gem. :)
For my budget I definitely won't get a gem. Just looking for something better than I could get here. Plus it's kinda fun searching.

Definitely some problem rust areas evident in the video of the second one. I'd ask why are the bolts missing on the windshield hinges? Likely a coastal area truck. Why not go for the first orange one? Seems more original.

Haven't ruled it out. I just want to check out a few and to see what condition vs cost is down there.

Looking at another this weekend. This one is listed a bit over 6K. No info on it except that is a 1980 another shade of orange.

I feel like orange is the color I am destine to get. Seems it's the only color I'm finding.

I have some experience buying Landcruisers in Costa Rica. Lot of rusty junk there and a lot of crappy body work as well. I wouldn't buy one without seeing it in person and take a screwdriver so you can pull off the door panels and see from the inside out. Also, they like to repair crappy fender's by welding rebar into the outer edges. Everything can be fixed but I have seen some crazy stuff come out of there, cracked frames, patched frames with 1/4'' bondo to smooth out the seems. Just be thorough.

On another note, flying into San Jose and cruising around the coffee farms all day searching out landcruiser deals is some of the most fun I've ever had. I'd recommend making a trip out of it, fly down there, hopefully buy the cruiser you want in a day or two, then spend a couple days in Jaco beach, some nice hotels there and some really cool beach cottages for rent there.

As far as driving it back, I have no experience with that (we ship out of Limon to Miami) but I'm sure it would be an adventure worthy of writing home about. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the advice. I'll give your advice to my friend down there. I'm hoping to fly down for final say if work permits.

I'm also using the buyer guide list found on the FAQ section starting this weekend.
